I am finishing my second year at college around may-june and am then looking to become a working pupil. I was wondering if anyone has any sugestions as to who would be the best person to apply to? I would love the opportunity to be able to train and possibly compete, so it would be good if this came with the position. I realise that there needs to be a great deal of hard wrok and commitment with this sort of job, and i am really excited to be able to concentrate on eventing full time! I would really appreciate any info. Thanks

Do you have any eventing idols? you could try a letter with a CV and hope that something comes up.

Try the BE website and look for trainers and the same approach.

Look in H&H for job ads, sign up for agencies and websites.

If you really want it then it will just take a bit of perseverance, something will turn up, even if its not with a "name" there is still so much to learn.

Just make sure that your CV really shows how much practical experience you have (e.g. weekend work, competing, PC camp, BHS/PC exams) so that you stand out as a "hands on" person. Make sure your letter accompanying your CV expalins why you are applying to this person and what you can offer/ want to get out of the experience.

Good Luck

Thanks alot that is really helpful. I have started up a C.V and have some good references so hopefully that will help! People i am going to apply to so far are Bill Levett, Paul Tapner, Lucy Wiegersma and Nigel Taylor as i have heard they sometimes have positions for working pupils.
