Eventing

As a rider my perception of safety has changed as time has passed and I've got older. I was invincible back when I started, despite broken bones and evidence ot the contrary. (!)
Then came the dreadful deaths of friends eventing in the 90s and I re evaluate my career to some extent.
I would say that now the courses are "technically" safer but also much more technical and think the questions asked make them more dangerous, in a different way. That and the style of riding and training they encourage.
This last season, with deaths and life changing injury has really brought that into focus.

Less safe but in my teens I felt invincible would ride anything, no fear.

Now in perimenopause, confidence is much harder to maintain and much easier to lose, and takes time to build back up.
