Does anyone know if Merrist Wood are still holding dressage this weekend and next?

[/ QUOTE ]

Merrist Wood is still on this weekend, I am off there tomorrow. They are just asking that if you are in the zones to not come.

We have got an article on the news website dedicated to cancelled events. Please send details of cancelled events to h&hnews@ipcmedia.com for inclusion.

Thanks Admin - its a shame we cannot sticky this too as not everyone goes onto the News pages on the main website, but I am sure what with people adding to this thread, it will stay current!

I have been asked to post the cancellation of the Endurance GB Sherwood Ride and 3 Rivers Ride this weekend, following the Foot & Mouth outbreaks in Surrey.
Nottinghamshire is many miles from the outbreak, but the venue is a working sheep farm with cattle, even the slightest risk is too great to take.
We all just hope that this thing dosn't spread further.
regards Pauline

I think we all should look at this site

http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/diseases/fmd/rural/horses.htm

The part that seems more relavant is:

General requirements
This section is aimed at people with horses kept outside a Protection or
Surveillance Zone. There are few restrictions affecting people with horses
outside these zones. However, the following do apply:

You must not organise or take part in hunting a drag or other trail
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/diseases/fmd/rural/horses.htm#3

This is also on the same page:

If you do not observe these requirements, you may commit an offence, and the
local authority may take enforcement action against you. In each case, a
footnote shows which provision of the Order creates the offence.

Doesn't look good
