Eventually it rained...but then the muzzles came out.

My 2 very annoyed ponies have had their muzzles introduced again today, just for a couple of hours...and boy it didn't go down well! Cob laid down in protest (1st time wearing a greenguard) and cheeky chappy has tested every scratching position to get it off (failed) Amazing the people who didn't 'get it' on why they were going into them now as 'there's not a lot of grass though'. As it continues to rain for the rest of the day I plan on beating the ponies to the new grass that will be appearing in the next day or 2. One cushings pony and one greedy cob mean I am more strict on letting 'a bit of a belly' slide now.

Anyone else muzzled already or preparing for the 'ur such a mean mum and i'm STARVING' muzzled face?

Not had to muzzle this year as in new field with strip grazing system! My pony is on her toes so she's telling me the grass is coming thro lol

Yes I have brushed the cobwebs off one of the muzzles in preparation for putting it on. Still we DO need the rain, so I'm not complaining.

No muzzle, but fenced off a tiny half acre paddock with only nibble length grass! I let the youngster (who came out of winter a little on the slim side) in there first, and he has troughed anything worth eating! Poor little cob was quite cross when I put her in there - she's in a terrible mood with me, and I feel AWFUL! Then again, not as bad as I'd feel if she got lami!

Yep, moved to new yard which has LOADS of grass and I share the field with a skinny TB so can't fence off - dug the muzzle out last week

I'm hoping the other horse will munch the worst off quite quickly and then perhaps we will be OK without the muzzle but for now it's sulky faces all round

I will be later this week, just changed over to in by day-out at night and will then start muzzling.

We have almost no grass yet - but it is coming. Pony is nice weight atm and I want to keep it that way. I do need a bit more growth first though - it is far too shot for the muzzle yet, but it only takes a few days!
