Ever been truly mortified....

When Duncan's got his computer working and it's uploaded (when being the operative word!) I may just send you the link.

I do feel as though I rise forwards and down not up and down. You'll have to judge for yourself.

Got a new instructor booked but she goes on holiday tomorrow for 16 days. So first lesson will be a while yet.

Seriously, try rising without stirrups to get the feel for where is should be coming from. In theory, your feet should just be kind of 'resting' on your stirrups with a nice relaxed ankle joint that allows your heel to move up & down in sitting trot - NOT shoving weight into the ball of your foot which is something I always thought was actually correct... (I refer you to my earlier comment about the BHS...)

Foot back, foot light - at any time if someone pushes your heel up it should move - if you ride with your heels forced down this doesn't happen. Sal_E we are of the same school of thought.

Yes - I am an expert on the subject- in fact a knowledgeable & hightly skilled rider....

On paper...

Just wish I could god-damn DO it!!!

HA HA HA

I'm laughing because I'll swear when I saw the video on the camera's screen I could see myself stand on the balls of foot when rising!!!!

It's quite funny isn't it. I can watch that video and point out numerous faults. Hubby says, if you know you're doing it wrong, WHY are you still doing it wrong?!

I'm like "Do you like hospital food?"

I can teach to a FAR higher standard than I can ride to! My dressage teacher always laughs at me as she says I actually teach myself as I know exactly what I am doing wrong and exactly what I should be doing to rectify it - am just not so quick with the body as I am with the mouth!

LOL - just trying to get your body to obey is so tough, isn't it???

I'm starting Alexanda Technique lessons next week - I decided I HAD to get better body awareness after my instructor asked if I was tensing my buttocks last week & I had to say 'hang on', whilst taking a hand of the reins & feeling my butt cheek to find out... Sad but true

I reckon my problem is that I just kid myself that I'm doing ok because I stay on!

I need to concentrate more. I keep telling everyone I'm just a beginner, this video only serves to confirm it.

well my sister managed to real off a good long list of bad habits about me yesterday so much so i feel like the hunch back of notradam, so i can't see me looking too good on the big screen either.
i too know what im doing wrong, but my body just isn't as agile as it used to be.

just so you get the idea
1 ) i ride with my head cocked to the right.
2 ) i use my left foot like a break on the car like you do when you do an emergancy stop.
3 ) after a while i hunch my shoulders.
and the list was a lot longer.

Yes. I cant believe I ride the way I do as it doesn't FEEL that bad!

I have this thing with my hands. They are really bad when I jump. I dont know what it is. I dont catch them in the mouth or anything, I just do something weird with them! I see SO many faults in my riding that when I ride now, I have about a million things to think about improving!

I've only seen myself riding on video once.... it was horrendous, I cried and was totally mortified that I looked THAT bad. My instructor made me feel a bit better though. She told me that I should of videod my very first lesson, I would of been entitled to cry then but I was (then) a lot better than I had been!!

Yes, last Sunday, in a jump off in France. Turned in a bit tight and no way.......I gracefully(I thought)slid off, having reached the point of no return. I didnt even know the rules here, the crowd, and there were lots of them, said that I couldnt carry on! and then the PA played'Another one bites the dust!!'
