My week is just getting better.
Read earlier post.
Took Tatty out for hack and my phone kept ringing I always ignore it when I ride but after 6 calls thought it might be emergency.Opened the phone and dropped it no big deal got off and decided to walk Tat to nearest tack shop being a shorty and her being nervous decided on safety. As I arrive at tack shop met a man I know and he held Tat whilst I climbed onto block for mounting she stood on his foot and he let her go.
She had only been this route once and just took off I heard a screech of tyres as she went round corner . Im in hot pursuit. As I turn corner a police car opens his door tells me to jump in and we take off behind cantering horse that I thought was going to get mown down at every corner. .Managed to stop her 100m from my livery.I cant believe she is ok little sweaty and shaky but all intact.
We were driving beside mad horse shouting walk and stand hoping she would listen and pull up.Poor old boy on his bike nearly had heart attack

but ended up running to the nearest village down a road with the speed limit being 60mph, i was pretty useless with a lump of plaster on my arm but poor dad ran after them down the road in his slippers ! while i hitched a ride in a car :S
We have about 6 locked gates ( im not exagerating!) before the road now

Our friend has three horses that live out on about 10 hectares of his farm, which is in the middle of nowhere. Last Thursday he had gone to bed when his phone rang at about 12.30. It was his nearest neighbour, another farmer, who asked him, 'Do you know your horses are here at my place?!' Turns out they were up with a calving cow and saw friend's big grey hunter-type wandering past, followed by the other two. Friend leaps out of bed and races off up the road in his car and slippers, catches one of them and thankfully the others followed as he led it home.

Friend's mother, who had left the gate open when she collected some earth from the field in a wheelbarrow, slept peacefully through the whole thing!

Glad you are both none the worse for your excitement!

I set off on a quad bike in my pyjamas once

to look for a missing horse which had vanished from it's stable.
Bumped into the local hunt at a cubbing meet totally embarrassed myself by asking all the locals if they had seen anything. Called the police to report him missing etc.
Went back to the yard to get dressed and found the flippin' horse in the stable next door with his mate!

The stables were converted from stalls and had old doors between each stable. He had managed to kick one open and had gone in for a snooze!
I had to tell the nice policeman who had been sent out to help that I had found the naughty horse!

Glad to know your horse was unharmed.

Mine dumped me once and left at speed. A nice driver picked me up and set off after him. Found him at his old home - I'd recently moved! He was prancing around the garden with his tail up showing off to all his old paddock mates!

Another time when I used to drive my harness horse to work I forgot about the goat in the hedge, it bounced out to say hi - Irish took one look at it and took off, I fell off the back of the jogger but hung onto the reins - got dragged along the road few a few yards before letting go. Thank heavens for plenty of warm layers I had on. A nice driver picked me up and we found horse unharmed a few mile down the road with his face buried in the hedge. The reins had caught around one of the wheels and forced the cart off the road.

I bought a car a few days later.
