Think I must have had glue on my backside yesterday... not quite sure what was up with my boy!!! He was about a hand bigger than normal when I got him in from the field and was a complete idiot to ride!!

I think it was only because he bucked and leaped one way, then the other, then the other, then the other that i didnt fall off!!! If he'd kept going the same way Idve definately been a gonner and its a long way to fly off a 17.1!!! I pulled a big clump of mane out where I was hanging on!!!

Ever had days like that? When no matter what they throw at you, you manage to stay on! And then others when the horse just has to step sideways and you fall off!?

Fingers crossed it was a one off stupid day!!

Yep - yesterday! Took the boy out jumping - lost one stirrup and my competitive nature got the better of me so I carried on - then lost the other and he cat leapt the fence - I really thought I was coming off but sat to it....very chuffed! ha ha

And then 2 weeks ago I fell off - in walk! Was cooling down, without stirrups and he spooked at his shadow and I fell out the side door - how embarassing!

We were going for a very fast gallop and somehow we *whispers* met a tree

Somehow my face hit the tree (youch!) but Tia totally avoided it

. It knocked me out for a few seconds yet I woke up still cantering quite contently - the only give away signs it had happened were that my face was numb as hell and I was covered in blood!

was riding my friends pony who was a known bucker (had bucked her off on the road - stitches!!) as my pony had gone lame with a splint and they "kindly" let me ride it.. took it cross-country and as i was passing the water jump on the way to the warm-up the little s**t started broncoing on the spot!! head down bum up, bum down little rear, huge leaps! so there is me looking like a ninny, so growl and stick made him get up!

I was riding a new pony at the RS one day, and I had absolutely no brakes at all. After we had sort of calmed down his walk a bit I asked for trot on a circle. He shot into canter, and I just thought 'Just sit tight and he'll have to stop some time'

He kept going and I lost my stirrup going round a corner , I was really geting a bit nervous now as we were picking up speed. The next thing I knew was the stirrup actually came off the saddle and it spooked him even more, and he galloped across the arena towards the gallery and classroom. I thought ' Oh poo, hes gonna jump the boards! ' He reached the board though and dug his heels in and stopped. I flew forwards but stayed on!

However I only walked round for a minute but then got off as I was in shock. *this was early in the year and I was still quite nervous rider back then, and I'd only ever cantered once in my life without stirrups before that.*

It was a huge confidence boost for me though and my riding has got a lot better afterwards!

I once fell off a pony, after we'd had a trot he put his head down to eat grass, and I just sort of did a forward roll down his neck, pmsl!

And tia, OUCH!

Yep - no that feeling. Went hunting yesterday and we had to walk across a wooden footbridge with metal railings. I stuck my feet either side of the saddle flap and prayed my horse would calmly follow the one in front. We put one foot on the footbridge then leapt into the middle and leapt of the other side straight into some low hanging branches!

I was very bruised and battered and I'm still not sure how I stayed on!

A few months ago i was riding in the paddock with my friend on her mare and every time her mare did more than walk my normally quiet angel went nuts and bronced round the school and rearing and things lol, spent a whole half an hour of this and didnt fall off surprisingly!

On the flip side of this, was teaching a children's W/T/C the other day...

ride was in walk, warming up. We hadn't trotted... in fact we hadn't made it round the outside of the school once. all 5 ponies were walking quietly and I was talking to the lead file when I heard a crash, swung round to see C sitting on the floor holding her reins. Of course I rushed over thinking
" did the pony spook, did it buck or leap forward??".

Seemed unlikely as she was riding one of our laziest mares (!)but I couldn't imagine what else could have happened. Well, it turned out that the mare had stretched her head out towards the floor (not quickly, just a lazy stretch) and rider had gone staight out the side door.

couldn't believe it, this girl is normally able to W/T/C nicely, pop a little fence and sit the odd cheeky buck! to this day, I can't figure out how the hell she managed to fall off! Fortunately she saw the funny side and hopped straight back up but I was extremely careful the rest of that lesson LOL
