Everyday tack that doesn't lose dye please

Hi all,
Just cleaned my tack tonight...am a bit OCD about it TBH.....
I have Bridleway bridles for every day ...which is lovely soft brown leather...has lovely padded headpiece and noseband....BUT...the dye comes out everytime I clean it:(
Forgot to change the sponge over the other day and used it on my saddle and me jods came up mucky brown:(
So.....can any one recommend an every day bridle that doesn't do this....or am I better off just getting good quality for every day?
All thoughts most welcome.

You get what you pay for. Cheaper leather loses dye. You need the expensive brands top ranges to avoid this. I have Jeffries and Barnsby bridles.

Much as I thought.....just wanted it confirmed....oh ...and I get to go to the loverly tack shop...for legitimate purchases...what a chore:)

I got a bridle for about £40, was English leather but wasn't expecting that much from it, but was really happy with it when it arrived!! and it doesn't lose any die when I clean it! also is really nice soft leather! its an Ariona or sumit? found it on ebay!

Blimey...thanks for this...
I always clean tack using rubber gloves....but of course tack is next to horses' skin:o
How would I know if it was aniline....or wouldn't I?

Yes requisite. It was just the plain hunter bridle , think it was about £20. Been really chuffed with it for that price , was nice and soft and the fit was really good . The only thing I recommend is if it gets wet then run a bit of conditioner over it or it will harden up.
 
You can't really, most of the cheaper hides have it the only way is to see it at source, the tannery but that's not always possible and asking the manufacturer of the bridle is not always accurate either. If you don't mind a sealed shiny bridle add resoline. It's mainly used on cheap Indian tack which always seems to run, I have some in my workshop I have applied to customers Indian bridles when in for repairs so I don't have to try to handstitch the damn thing with gloves on to avoid the dye!
I stopped repairing Indian saddlery a long time ago, still have some resoline I think, shoiuld be ok still, if you are near me and want it come and get it!
I won't post it as fluids don't travel too well.

You can't really, most of the cheaper hides have it the only way is to see it at source, the tannery but that's not always possible and asking the manufacturer of the bridle is not always accurate either. If you don't mind a sealed shiny bridle add resoline. I live in Wales...so we couldn't get further apart lol..shall try local saddler and if no joy....dump said bridles.
Anyone want 3 Bridleway bridles? Going cheap:P

Oz, you are one of the most generous and helpful members in the history of the forum :)

Bryndu, the better quality leather the less likely the dye will leak. Have never had a problem with Stuben bridles losing dye.
 
I don't have 'every day bridles' or 'best bridle', they have quality bridles that are used everytime they are riden. They are cleaned regularly & have remained in great condition for years. I look at the bridles the same way as their saddles. They don't have a best saddle, again they have a quality saddle that fits well & that's what we use. These are cleaned regularly & are still in great condition. If you buy quality & look after it cleaning it regularly it will always look good. :)

TBH I don't usually by cheap....so it serves me right really:)
The bridles are really well made and look loverly on....but.....hey ho....
And as I said before....an excellent excuse to go on a spending spree:)
