Finally something worse than Parelli, and if you're in America then you've probably already heard of it.

This video put out by the HSUS on the USA's biggest and most well-known Tennessee Walking Horse stud showing how they "soar" their horses to get the desired effect for the show ring.

These people can and will continue to do this unless something is done. While being in the UK there's not a whole lot we can do. But we can get it out to as many people as possible Nation and Worldwide to show what is really going on and hopefully reduce the numbers of people supporting this.

I do understand that not ALL Tennessee Walkers are abused like this for the show ring, but it's proven that most are. NO horse will move like this naturally, not even horses bred for a different gait.

Please DO NOT watch this video if you're easily upset or disturbed. I've seen some rough stuff in my time but this reduced me to tears.

Even if you can't watch it, I'm hoping you'll share this to everyone you know who cares about horses to try and get these "people" stopped as soon as possible.
There's no harder evidence than what is on tape.
 
Oh.my.god. Words fail me. Those poor horses. I couldn't watch it to the end but anyone that does this (how can they have classes for displaying it,FFS??!?) should be locked up. And their hind leg action is bizarre-can't imagine what hideous effects it has on their back,neck,hindlimbs etc let alone damage to the forelegs and(almost the worst thing) the fear and confusion they must suffer when being hit without any way of escape/self protection. Disgusted:(
 
How sickening is it to see a whole "show" comprised of what is little more than animals evading pain?!

It's just so deliberate, normally horse owners do everything they can to avoid irritating/ damaging/ hurting a horse's delicate skin... Here they are actually COATING their feet in acids :|

And then there's the beatings... What on earth are they trying to achieve?!

Poor, poor animals. I feel ill having just watched that.
 
There's another thread on this. I cannot stress strongly enough how disturbing the footage is.

Only warped humans could see any beauty in that and the suffering the horses endure day in and out is unforgivable and criminal of the worst kind.
Just shows the power of human culture distorting the world and human ability to see only what they want to see...
 
Im usually quite tough when it comes to videos like this but even this has really got to me. Those poor horses, I know they are trying to make sure sawing isnt happening in the show ring anymore but anything could be happening outside of it
 
I have seen a few TWH, Big Lick cruelty videos in my time.

I thought I was pretty hard core and tough.

But this video is the most graphic yet - I am shaking and crying.

They get away with this because no one talks about it - please, please send this video viral so people can know what goes on.

I hope TFC doesn't pull this thread.
 
All I can think is WHY?! Why would anyone think this is acceptable, and why would anyone want to inflict such pain! The people carrying this out are despicable human beings, however the total ignorance of the "spectators" means that it will continue. What sort of human being would pay to watch horses being tortured like this, and I doubt some even realise the horses are suffering and moving in that manner to evade the agonising pain! The looks in those poor horses eyes... I just dont understand why! :mad: :mad:
 
I've seen a few of the Big Lick videos before but that just made me sick to the stomach. I'd love to give them the treatment they are meting out to these poor horses.

Truly sickening.

It's appalling. What does smacking a horse across the face actually meant to achieve?

Agree that these sorts of classes should be pulled. Aside from the obvious cruelty, it looks ridiculous.

Any reports of rescued TWH from this sort of thing? I know it's awful but I wonder if their feet and legs ever recover from this kind of 'training'.
 
That was awful, I knew they used the 'stacks' (horrible in itself) and the 'soring' but every time you look into it it just gets worse revealing more and more brutal practises, I mean they are really beating that horse because it can't get up, and I don't even understand why they are hitting it with a bit of wood at the start?! To make it rear?! The movement is so ridiculous and unnatural, and the signs of soring are easy to see at shows it seems, the stuff they use is often bright blue, not to mention the sore, blistered pasterns and obvious lameness. If the people running these shows were under fire they wouldn't have any defence as to why they condone these practises. However there are plenty of people who show twh for their natural gait!

It's not a piece of wood, it's a cattle prod.

They want the horse to 'be on it's toes' in the showring.

They also like to cause pain elsewhere so that when the soreing wounds are examined, they don't react to it - the abuse helps to make them numb and trains them not to react.
 
Kao, I really don't think you can or should compare the parelli way of training to that of the Big Lick. The content of that vidio is totally and utterly sick, wrong and illegal. Those horses are tortured beyond belief of most peoples minds and even if you do not agree with or understand Parelli there is no way you can compare the two.
 
I watched the video that Nah posted, guess this is the same, don't want to look again. This is sadistic, those b*****ds are enjoying inflicting pain. The other post said Pepsi had pulled sponsorship, that is surely the way to go, which other big companies are involved, they should be named and shamed.
 
It baffles me how he is allowed even near a horse after people have seen that video, surely he should be banned from keeping horses!
 
I won't lie I had to look away for most of that i feel sick having watched it the immense pain those horses tolerate is just unbelievable just goes to show what kind brave creatures they are. These 'trainers' and I use that word lightly are not worthy to even be described as creatures sick sick individuals!!!. There must be something that can be done, no animal deserves to experience and existence like that. Devastating :(
