Hi,

Anyone know of someone who can assist a young lady in the Boothstown area of Manchester.

She is not experienced with horses generally and so we cannot possibly provide the sort of assistance this lady needs via a telephone - she needs very definite hands-on help.

The horse is rearing up on the lunge and when being led, etc. She has had him about 5 months coming sraight out of training.

Kate (Winstanley) - you contacted the RoR for help last year so we know you are from the Manchester area! Did the person we recommended for help you work out? Or are you now using someone different? Perhaps you would very kindly send a PM so we can update the database.

Many thanks
Rowena

Try Mickey Gavin on 07974 214990. He's not based that way, but he's happy to travel.

Probably a daft question, but have you posted on the ex-racers club website?

I have a friend who's into ex-racers. I'll text her and see if she knows anyone.

please get her to join up the ex racers club (exracersclub.com) there are many members in that area that will be able to offer help and support.

I will ask on their myself and see what they say.

Contact Katie at animalminds.co.UK, she's in Oxford but works with a network of fully trained behaviourists from the natural animal centre, shd hv someone there. They have an approach to training which looks at the reasons behind the behaviour and how to help from there, rather than quick fixes, absolutely exceptional for ex racers. Good luck....

Hi Morgan,
Thank you but are we talking of the same Katie? The lady I am referring to contacted us for help so don't think it can be the same person:) but thank you anyway.

The lady needs practical help as a matter of urgency to assist with problems on the ground initially.

MrsM- where is Mickey Gavin from?

Sorry, just seen your post (mind has been elsewhere).

Mickey is Nottingham area, so not too far from Manchester. He charges a flat fee, so it works out quite cost effective.

Wimbles has a lot to do with ex-racers, she's the one I text earlier

.

Good luck.

Hi I am sure this is the lady who contacted me for help at the weekend. I am going to see her on Saturday, it does sound like a lot of her problems are caused by the horse being fresh and lacking in freedom to move around in a field. I gave her some advice over the phone to be going on with so we'll see what happens at the weekend.

Hi Rowena
If you hear from this lady again, could you mention to her that is courteous to be at the yard at the time she has booked a lesson for or at least answer her phone when I ring to see where whe is or even ring afterwards to explain what happened. I drove for half an hour to help her on Saturday after spending twenty minutes on the phone the weekend before giving her some help to then find she hasn't the decency to be there at the time arranged.
