Having never had a full TB to compete I've not taken any notice of ROR classes.
Anyone care to give me an idiots guide to this stuff? Dressage, SJ, Eventing?

ROR support tonnes of competitive events in all sorts of disciplines at all different levels.

They have riding club leagues (you can gain points at affiliated venues), eventing and showjumping leagues (affiliated and unaffiliated), dressage championships, awards for team chasing, polocrosse, endurance, horseball, show classes (some are run alongside TARRA and cater for thoroughbreds that have and haven't raced) and much, much more.

The run a huge championship event at Aintree in August covering showjumping, dressage and showing.

DRessage there are BD specific comps, the one at Aintree in Aug you have to go to one of 20 qualifying venues with classes and be 1st or 2nd in your class to go through to the finals and they a class for those that raced and those that just trained (i think). They have also started a BD TB class for any TB not specifically those that raced and I think you only need 2 sheets at 62% or higher to qual for that (its on the BD website)

Tons of info and rules on here: http://www.ror.org.uk/

I've done the ROR champs (BD) last year and it was great fun :D

I've already agree to be a 4th team member any time you need one around my area (40 mile radius).
This planning is for a different horse owner. ;)

If you are in the right area there is LOADS of stuff to do with racehorses. The ROR part fund a lot of clinics so you get them half price. As previously said there are many different leagues, clubs, activities, championships to do. To compete in ROR stuff you need to register your horse for £10 a year. To just do clinics but not compete it's free.

Look on www.ror.org.uk and go your area to find out what is going on. Some areas have more stuff to do than others depending on how proficient the area rep is.

Tarra is now part of ROR btw.

There are also reqional competitions where you collect points in your chosen disciplines either unaffiliated or affiliated competitions at approved venues in your region , you fill your own sheets in and get the judge or show sec to sign it and then email them back to ror
Look for "regional leagues" on the ror website for more info

Anyone know where I could get any merchandise ? Saw an ror saddle cloth the other day and I'd like one but can't seem to find anywhere to buy them ?

You can't buy ROR stuff unless it is 2nd hand. You can only win it by winning their competitions. You get the jackets from winning showing classes and the saddle cloths from winning dressage classes.

Maybe but then if you think about it, if you really want one you work hard, go to their clinics and win one by sheer hard work and getting your horse out there proving that racehorses aren't lunatics and can have new, normal lives.

Lordy! I won mine last year at the ROR BD qualifiers (amazed tbh), off to disgrace ourselves again at area festivals this weekend too lol, if you see us feel free to wave madly and or say hello - we may or may not spook at you LOL :D

I think they should sort a series with BE .
Eventing is the natural home of the TB competition horse and they could have series at grass roots level and higher if they wanted it .

Still figuring all this out BE was so much easier !
I will be horseless at the weekend but am hoping to get up for a look about I'll give you a wave if I see you :)
Good luck

Yes the qualifiers are the holmside ones on the 30th, think we're going not sure if I'll do the ror classes or the normal ones will see how sunday goes! If you get stuck on qualifying and the like just email BD and then you know you're right (I did a lot last year lol), they are v helpful and the champs were great fun last year :D Although at Aintree and earlier this year and combined with the showing/sj stuff too

I might be half asleep tbh as first class is 8am and 2nd 9am - can tell I've got used to later classes :o Friend on slightly later so will be about for a while and I shall wave back if you wave madly :D

Lots of BE ROR stuff - not that we do it but there are loads at different levels and the showing and dressage again cover a wide range of levels and there is generally a really nice atmosphere at ROR stuff. I won the very first ROR showing qualifier and got a jacket, a numnah and a rug, and horse then did the double winning another full set later in the year! He's retired now and doing that old person stuff of "back in my day....." Good luck to all out and about.
