Our last ex-racehorse came to us about 3 weeks after running his last race. He was made up pretty much entirely of skin, bone and muscle. There was barely an ounce of spare flesh on him. (Lovely trainer incidentally who was very concerned about where he ended up and though he was still a fairly successful racehorse thought he needed to be out of racing as he had fallen out of love with the job and had become very stressed - hence why he was struggling to keep condition).

This will be his second Summer with us. He has finally chilled right out, become a much more relaxed 'person' and gained weight. When he arrived he had the deepest poverty marks I have ever seen. These are much improved but still apparent even though his top is rounding out nicely. We are just getting into more serious schooling with him and I was wondering whether work will help 'iron out' his poverty marks? He has great potential as a show hack type but just worried his quarters will never round out properly.
