While I'm here, I put up a new vid of Claude from tonight. He jumped 1.15 from a trot for anyone who wants to see it! :)

Aww cute :D

Is there a way to find pics of exracers racing? My friend has one, and whilst I have been bored on holiday this week I have been researching him :D
Well i just googled him haha! If you want, i can have a look for ya :D just tell me his name and show me a pic of him so i can see what he looks like if you can? Its no prob :) and thankyou! x
no, I think mine raced too long ago for me to find any :-(

I have a video of him, a MASSIVE long pedigree print out, and have contacted his breeder, and most of his owners

Aww that sucks :( when did your one race? I havent found any videos of Claude :( all his races say 'no video available'!

I have some photos at home of mine racing, but they're not digital, so I can't upload them and I think the old one raced about 10 years ago, so no video either! How is your's bred?

I actually have a whole file on him that took me years to do!

He started racing in 1987 in Ireland (steeplechasing) and did his last P2P in 1996 ish. I've counted approx 100 races, he raced everywhere from Galway to Cheltenham, went from Ireland to England more times than I can count, through Doncaster sales at least twice, and was ridden by 2 fairly famous jockeys T J Taaaffe was his main one, and also ridden by Richard Dunwoody

I have this photo of George winning the Dubai Aluminiun cup in January 2008. I was able to contact the course photographer and he sent me about 8 proofs by email and I was able to buy 3 fab photos to put in a frame. They are proudly displayed in my hall for all visitors to see!

Aww wow! Thats a loooong time  I dont know much about racing and jockeys etc, as I wasnt really into it before I got Claude, but now I'm always having a nose at things :p

If you have an ex racer that has only recently retired you can view videos online on www.attheraces.com You have to register an account but it is free to do. I have done it and watched video of George winning the race that I have the photo's of. It's quite a strange feeling I must say, especially since George is actually quite lazy in his new quieter life!

Nope :(

I only have a DVD, I've contacted both of his trainers and his breeder, none have pictures, I need to try and get hold of his owner :(

First time I made OH watch the DVD he stated "no matter how hard you cheer, he's never going to win that race"

2nd forever!

:D WOW , am SO envious. They are great photos to have of your fabulous horses.:D

I have written to my ex-racers previous owners, trainers and breeders .... but they are all busy people and have not had the time to reply. I have also visited many websites which I thought may help.... but there's time yet. Have only had the horse 11 years !! lol
.
lol :)

We're very lucky with ours as his owner still owns him, and adores him. She lives down the raod from is, and so we're in constant contact and know all there is to know really.

He was a reluctant racehorse- used to pack it in apparently midrace, despite being bloomin fast!

Wow! Amazing photo. You must be very proud!! How did you find these photos? Mine raced in Hong Kong as a 2 and 3 yr old and I would love to see him action and actually know how he got on

Beautiful horses but where is the bottom half of your horse's left hind? Or is it just me?

I tried googling this one but came up with nothing! only raced 3 races tho, so very low key.

Oh may try watching the race on racing post then :D

Don't know where yours raced but if it was any where near north it is worth looking up Grossick Photography. If you can find out from racing post the dates and names of his races, it will help you to look up photos. I found some lovely ones of my boy hurdling! I suppose racecourses must know which photographers they use, may be worth looking at their websites or contaxcting them. So exciting to see your horse doing what he was bred to do! Saying that, very glad he's with me now

Well, my girl isn't actually here yet, but i have done soem research already, and plan to do what someone else said they've done and make a file. She raced in ireland, and oh racing post i found her races and watched the one she won and another she came third in, i wanna be able to show everyone, but i don't think there's a way to link it. I made her family tree all the way back till there were no more known parents, she's a Northern Dancer girl!

Lovely photos though, isn't it strange to think of the life they had before, or is that just me...

xxxx

The first one is of Charlie (Charging) and found it by checking were he raced then finding out who photographed there.

The second is Profluent who I lost almost 2 years ago (the chesnut nearest the camera). I think i just found this by googling but with him having an unusual name it was easier to find! I also tried photographers direct, they are really helpful and gave me some contacts.

This is our horse. She ran 6 times as 2-3 year old, best result was a 3rd, then a couple of 4ths, the rest nowhere :D

Got this by way of a colleague's sister who worked in the industry, she found out who the track photographer was for Lingfield (where my horse had her best race) and so I emailed him, he found some and I chose the best one, the photographer wasn't happy with the quality so didn't charge me much, but I was happy enough with it.

As I knew George raced for Sheik Muhammed I contacted Godolphin to see if they knew how I could get any photo's. Tbh, I didn't actually expect them to reply but they sent me a nice email giving me the contact details for the photographer that took the photo's and they wished me luck with George for the future. All I had to do then was work out from the racing post the date that George raced and then contact the photographer myself.

Nickles1973- Your horse is gorgeous!

Can people give their horses racing names as well tho please?

We might of watched them on the tv :D

Thank you! I think so too, but then I would lol!
His racing name is Sentinelese. He only raced 11 times and the only video I have found of him was on attheraces.com. It probably would have been televised at the time on SKY but most likely only real racing buffs would have seen it lol! He's by Cape Cross, the same stallion that sired Sea the Stars, but lucky for me his racing career was no where near as successful!

I bought my boy straight off the race track. I traced all his races through the Racing Post website, then contacted Satellite Information Services. They are the company who supply all the bookies with live racing footage.
I managed to buy a DVD with all his races on it, it was amazing to watch:D

Have the DVD of my horse's last race. Can't remember who posted the copy of her horse's pedigree above but I see you have Hyperion in the bloodline - my old boy had Hyperion a few generations back and I traced one male line all the way back to one of the founding stallions of the TB line. Hyperion (born 1930) was by Gainsborough (1915) who was by Bayardo (1906) by Bay Ronald (1893) by Hampton(1872) by Lord Clifden (1860) by Newminster (1848) by Touchstone (1831) by Camel. Unfortunately the book I have to hand doesn't go back any further than Camel but I did some other tracing at the Racing Museum in Newmarket and managed to get a line all the way back. Pretty pointless but quite fun.
