Ex racers

where can i get an ex racer off the track?? im looking into re schooling one and giving one a second chance as i have seen what they have to offer! I just don't really know where to start looking!

I read somewhere about a charity called "heroes" that have ex racers for loan and sale but dont know website

through the jockey club you can contact heroes. The offer loans and sales of ex-racers that they have retrained to various standards. If the horse is really wrong for you, they'll change it too i believe.

They're based in Oxfordshire somewhere.

I got mine from a lady who goes to the sales....I also called a few local race trainers to see if they had any they didn't want anymore-it saves them having to waste time taking them to the sales etc and usually they are just pleased to see them go so you can get them for a fairly good price!

There's a guy in surry who buys in nice ex racers and does basic reschooling on them and sells them on at a responsible price. Can't remember his name though but worth googling.

Took 3 yrs to turn him round but the best money I ever spent.

Another vote for the ex racers forum here. There are always ones on there for sale at various stages - straight off the track, or partly re-schooled.
