Does anyone know where ex-TNT or ex-Lynx type trucks end up ? I am looking to purchase one for conversion. Or can anyone recommend a good truck dealer ?
Many Thanks in advance

Not sure whether anyone will agree or disagree with me on this but I work in a similar industry to this courier type thing - and when I was buying my lorry spent ages chatting to our drivers about what to get etc, and they advised against vehicles that had been used for multi-drop companies, as they have a) been driven by lots and lots of different drivers, soem of whom will have been rather heavy handed with clutch etc, and b) lots of short trips, stopping and starting, is much harder on the engine.
Obviously it is impossible to know with a lot of horseboxes what they have done in the past, but they said best to find one that has done longer distance driving eg a royal mail truck would probably have done less short, stop/start journeys, or maybe look to get a TNT or Lynx truck that has not been based in a city, maybe a bigger (HGV) one that has been used to run between cities rather than multi-drop.
Not sure how true this all is but it is what I was told!
Hope it is of some use.
Re truck dealers, pick up comercial vehicles magazine maybe, lots advertise in there.
Good luck

Some friends of ours have been running a Big Green Parcel Machine as a horsebox for years, having done the conversion themselves. Admittedly, the bloke is a lorry mechanic, but he wouldn't have chosen one if it was an unwise thing to do.

I believe all Lynx Trucks go to Minster Commercials

You can buy off them and do the conversion yourself. I bought one off them 7 years ago, it was on its second time around the clock and its been great. Would buy another from them.

I've got an ex roadsweeper and because it has just chugged along doing sweeping it hasn't been thrashed - you can't roadsweep at 60mph

very reliable and came from a scrapyard with the sweeping tank still on it.

Ditto this, I drove past Minster Commercials on Saturday and they had plenty sat outside!
