Anyone based an exam piece on horses? If sooo... pictures? Or even if you just like drawing horses :)
I had my Art exam today and produced this...

I'm not the best and to be honest I seriously dislike art but I'm pleased. I didn't think I'd manage 10hours of staring at my mares face as well :D

Ah, that's so good, and big too. What was your topic? and what scale is it? It looks just like her :)

For GCSE, I did a double award and the second topic of the first gcse was equine :D
This was my final piece. It's... interesting, shall we say?

Then the first part of the second gcse was numbers which I somehow managed to manipulate in to horses? :p

As you can tell, I was a disturbed child!
Then after that :D at As level, my topic was looking through. Naturally, I decided to look through a horse!

Yes, normal. ;)

I have just done my photography 10hr exam and produced a piece responding to Eadweard Muybridge. If you google his images he make girds of horses but of how they jump / run. I took this into my own interpretation and took pictures of my horse going down and rolling and getting up again. Turned out really well :)

Sorry removed the pictures as it would be extra long :D!
They're actually amazing! I love them! Hope you don't mind me asking but what grades did you get?
There were loads of topics to pick from. Sense of place, Animals, Dance and loads of othert rubbishy ones. I chose animals so I could base it all on my girlie :D. This is twice the size of the original, A4 to A2 I think. I'm not very arty, only chose it because I didn't like the look of R.E or Geography :P

i'm starting my 10hour exam next week &its got Echo in it :D not looking forward to 3hour art sessions i silence though :o

Strangely I really enjoyed my exam. We had the radio on in the background and the invidulators let us talk a bit, well they kept talking to us haha! I think they were bored:)

Good luck! :D

You were so lucky to get animals :) A2 is massive, is it oil pastel? You certainly made a good job if you're not 'arty', lol!
I got an A and a B, I've not finished my As course yet though :)
R.E was compulsory at our school!

I wasn't massively arty but managed to get a grade b in GCSE art, the theme was pattern, so I produced one of horses heads wearing double bridles, I never realised how fascinating doubles were until then, yes I worried myself...

Yep, all oil pastels. They're the only thing I can kind of work with haha! Ah brilliant! Well done. Let me know how you get on with your AS :) Poor you R.E is pants hehe

I did horses for my gcse exam and got an A* - not got any photos of the piece though and can't take any at the mo as it is at school on a wall somewhere! The title was "my world" so that was easy ;)

I am doing horses for my A2 exam as well - the title is impasto (this means thick paint) which a lot of expressiony thingy ma bob artists use so it fits in with movement and expression and emotion etc. My art teacher however hates horses so I've let him think I'm doing a project on ballerinas - going to have to let him know v v soon that actually its not on ballerinas.... every-time he comes round I ended up kicking my work under my desk and looking at degas paintings instead!!

Good luck to breaking the news to him :D

He WILL kill me :( we have already had a large argument about it all so I just pretend to agree....
I thought ballerina stuff SO unoriginal though! My art teacher told me horses aren't accessible source material - to which I replied I have 5!

Slightly worried as I think it is art teachers that mark the exam then the moderator just checks a few. Never mind I want to do something that means something to me!

I think they do mark them. All of the art teachers at my school (theres 4) are all sitting down and agreeing on marks so it isn't biased. If he bases it on because he doesn't like horses then thats just wrong and you should contact the exam board :P.
I think if you are basing it on something you have a passion for then I think you will do much better then say something you don't like.
Also he shouldn't kill you. You have a mind of your own and can do what you want :D Rebel against him!

I'm doing A2 art at the moment - between GCSE and now I have had like 10 units when I could have done horses, but my super manipulative art teacher has never let me do it because she is very subjective about what she likes, and as she's marking it it would make the difference between an A and a C  Moderation makes no difference because there are only two of them in the department and she forces the other teacher to back down every time. At least I only have to endure her for two more weeks until my final exam (15 hours ) and then I never have to see her again.

I just draw Red when I should be doing actual art for school instead aha

Ah that's bril! I can just about write my own name with pencil let alone draw something:)

Yeesss :) I loved doing horses in my art! GCSE - my reflection project involved looking into horses eyes.
AS a wire horse for my final piece can't remember what the title was but it was all about the change between the living and dead wire skeleton of a horse over a dead horse skeleton (based on the elephants coming back to their loved ones in future)
A2 - speed and motion, This was SO much fun! Played with shutter speed of the horse moving. Then final piece was a wire sculpture of three stages over a jump :)

GCSE reflection:

A2 just a pencil piece :)

A2 - just a painting

A2 - final wire piece ( looks better in real life as looks more thicker!
