Some of the other liveries had been raving about this guy they have over from Germany every few months for clinics, so I said I'd have some lessons too. Well, he was fantastic! Today I rode Liberty first, we worked so hard! His trot work has been coming on well lately, he's learnt how to push off his back legs properly and it feels hugely powerful. Anyway, we worked on eveness in the hand, and consistency of throughness to improve the transitions, very simple things, but without me really trying we ended up with a massive trot and a very nice, much straighter canter. Pics aren't great as we were indoors and the light wasn't very good. Anyway, if nothing else you can admire how skinny he is for him!

Then William, who I struggle with as a general rule. He immediately picked up on him not using his back properly as we were warming up, and after 15 minutes he asked if he could have a sit on him ....

. I've never seen anyone schooling William, and despite the fact that yes he's very rigid I was rather proud of the little man! And it was a pretty easy lesson for me! He did loads and loads of loosening work, and tomorrow he'll get me to do it, and then he said 3 weeks of that and I'll have a horse that can actually work!

Poor Libs, but he's going really well for an amputee.

Joking aside, they do look great. Are you all fired-up and ready to hit the international circuit then?

(Shall I make the comment about you not wearing a hat - just to get it out of the way - or would you rather wait until the masses of HHOers that will read this tell you off for setting a bad example?)

what lovely horses you have - isn't it great when you find someone you just 'click' with as well

Oh the weather here is terrible too, I don't think we've had a completely dry day since we moved here! But most of it just gets soaked up.

Todays lessons were equally good, did flying changes on L! How exciting! And then with W we worked mostly on treaching me how to ride him properly and work on his looseness. Teacher was very pleased with us.

Very excited about competing again but the lorry is just doing
my head in, and am getting seriously reluctant about driving it any distance. Bloody well hope the house gets sold this time so I can go and buy a new one!

Baydale - at least I wear a hat for hacking and jumping, this lot don't!

As a random comment.... your pics look like they had some "sports" or "movement" setting on the camera when they were taken.... do you know what?

am just playing with my Dad's flash digital camera... and about to get to that bit!

Er mainly that I'm not to get into a big fight with him! He is terribley one-sided. We did lots and lots of flexion, and he told me to stop riding with my seat completely. He got me to do lots of work on his good rein (right), to get him round and soft with inside bend, then gradually straighten him, then outside bend whilst opening my right hand to get him to "fall" into that contact. When he was accepting that I was allowed to go into a left circle for a couple of rounds, then back to right. And if he tried sticking in his stupid little shuffle strides I was to flex him very sharply and push the hindquarters out.

Didi - yes, that was with sports setting on, but it just doesn't seem to cope in low light.
