Excessive Salvia coming from my labs mouth?????

Buds my lab has got alot of excess sulvia coming from his mouth! Only started this morning, when he got up of the sofa it was soaking underneath him! Just thought that maybe he was a naughty monkey and carried out his oblusions on the sofa!!
But i noticed earlier he was drooling quite alot, ( the same amout he normally drools if you have got a biscuit or something) but there was no biscuit

Just happily sat looking outside! And now he has just got up and he is still drooling and chair is soaking!!

Anyone had any experience of this with there dogs?? Going to keep an eye on him, he is very much his normal self and the inside of his mouth looks healthy! He as always had good teeth just is making everything soaking tee hee

Excessive saliva is often caused by something stuck in the mouth somewhere or a teeth/mouth/ throat problem. Check carefully and keep an eye on.

We had this with both our labs recently, and they then went on to have upset tummys and were very ill for a few days. Apparently the vet said it was a virus that was going around at the time.

As goya said, it can also be because they have things stuck in their mouth/throat.

We just had a good look in his mouth and cant see anything obvious thats stuck etc!

Will keep a good eye on him!

I had this with Bud my choc lab too, he was drooling like a pint every few minutes, only lasted one night and was advised by the vet that it would be likely that he might be sick. he wasnt but he was fine the next morning, something he had eaten maybe.....

It could be a variety of things, I would get him checked by the vet sooner rather than later if it persists.
A few things that cause salivation
Tooth abscess
Ulcer
ingesting a toxic substance
Foreign body
Bloat
Bee/wasp sting in mouth

Got him an appointment at the vets tomorrow earliest I could get!!! It seems to have eaised up this evening however will keep eye and will get him checked

Flyn (spaniel) started drooling excessively and after a day or so he started to look particularly uncomfortable.

Turned out to be an abcess in his throat area which came out under his tongue - poor boy.

A course of Anti B's put it right.

Sometimes dog's drool when they are stressed - has anything changed at home.
