I am a very experienced rider and have had some really good horses over the years and my current horse is no exception but she really needs more work than I can give her and with winter around the corner I will only be able to ride at week ends, like most people really. She goes out every day and her food ration is sensible for what she does but hacking out will be a frustration as she finds it a buzz at the best of times.
As I haven't had my mare very long and all things considered I really dont think she is the right horse for me now at my time of life so I am considering exchanging her for a horse that is twice her age but has been there, seen it done it and would be suitable for anybody to ride. There will be a small cash sum involved.
I am feeling a bit guilty about the situation as I haven't sold a horse for years. All my others have ended their days with me which makes it even harder really. She would be going to a professional dealer who I know would sell her on to a suitable
home etc.
Would any of you do the same?
