I happened to be looking on the internet earlier and came across a horse advertised for part loan and from the town near us. The owner is going to Uni in September and wants someone to see to her horse 3-4 times a week. So I rang and found out its kept about 5 mins down the road at the livery yard I wanted to keep one at if I bought one. Anyway I went down earlier this evening and tried her in the arena, then the girl tacked her sisters horse up and we went out for a hack.
I was told she is ok with most things but can be funny with tractors and what was the first thing we saw when we got to the road? yes.. a tractor, she tried it on abit as the other horse started playing up but I took the lead and encouraged her and she went past.
Im going back on Monday to have another ride and catch her and stuff and I cant wait.
Shes a 16.1hh black ID x Thoroughbread.
II did really want to buy my own horse but this is to good a opportunity to miss and will give me chance to get back into looking after a horse and time to save up for my own.
I will be paying £20 a week, should I insist on a contract being written up so that we all know where we stand?
Sorry that ended up quite long.

Well done, I hope it all works out for you. A contract is the best way to go as it will outline what each others responsibilities are. It will say who pays for insurance, shoes etc & what you are allowed to do with the horse, when you have access to the horse etc. Doing evrything on a handshake is great until something goes wrong & you are presented with bills that you thought the other was liable for.

Thats really great for you, funny how things work out. I would agree that a contract would be a good idea then theres no confusion. The best advice I could give is to make sure you communicate with eachother, keep a daily diary for example, one or two on my yard share and it seems to work for them.
