So guys good news went to the rescue center today and walked a few dogs and have reserved 2greyhounds one brindle boy and a black girl 4 year old and a 3 year old.

Home check this Friday then if they are happy we can collect them this weekend.

Very excited looking at dog beds at the moment thought not too sure what size we need per dog but thought 2large beds will do.

Thank you again for everyone's help.

Most definably I will upload as soon as they are here. I'm told not to get to excited and my hopes up by my OH should they rejected us for our pond. But it's 3feet above ground level so no reason they could fall in. I think he's worrying too much.

Chosen beds, dog tags which are sparkly and they come with a coat and leads.

Good luck, sure pond will be fine if it's raised.
I adopted adult pair of greyhounds first time too :) will look forward to photos.

They will soon be sleeping on the sofa - best you look for a comfy chair for yourselves!!

No no! Not on the sofa that's one thing I will put my foot down too but morning cuddles in bed is defiantly allowed.

Though the girl called sherry looks rather mischievous lol but I can see her wrapping my OH around her little toe lol she is so loving and the boy I think he's yet to come out of his shell perhaps shy but on the second walk he was a little more confident but overall two lovely dogs that we are looking forward to welcoming Into our home.

Good Luck with keeping them off the sofa, I have spent 5.5 yrs not allowing mine on sofa and have finally given up it is just more effort than its worth:D

I gave up almost straight away with the no sofa thing! Mine just sleep where they want and everything is cocooned in throws! I do crate them to sleep though otherwise my young dog gets under the duvet, gets too hot, gets out, gets cold, yaps in my sleeping face to be let back under, gets too hot. Over and over again all night long!

They have crates padded with sofa cushions, 2 duvets and a real sheepskin, plus a fleece for over the top :o

Soo plz u getting greyhound n a black one too as thes do get over looked by their colour due to greying quickly ,,I've had two black ( whips not grh ) and my foster is black
Instead getting two beds just get a old sofa ,.as with many who hav sight hounds they don't b staying in their beds for long lol or get a throw over ,,
U wait until ur snuggly on the sofa and they look up to u with those seal sad eyes u won't resist it
The greyhound mega store is good for collars n coats ( coats gotta b curved backed n collars wide ) also I prefer raised feed bowls due to their long necks n this can help not choking or gulping in air
Good luck yes needs pics

Ps ,I don't allow mine upstairs or in beds ,,being asthmatic n allergies n I don't like em doing stairs just my personal opinion ,,I know plenty do ,mine get crated at night as they can scavenge ,,being greyhounds may reach even higher than my whippets lol

Thank you haycroft for that I shall have a look now.

Well we knew what boy we wanted who's the brindal the girl was suggested to us, I had seen her online and fell in love with her sweet little face. We all go grey one day lol

Venture coats r fab n fit great n last for years they even do Witney coats ,,

Also weathertogs
U can get loads of lovely collars
Fabric ,leather ,martingale
Just google
Don't use extendable leads v dangerous esp if the shoot off
Use a long training lead instead
Best to get coats long in the thigh that's where they get cold
Plz get the black girl :-))

The black girl and the brindle boy are reserved for us so yes we have chosen her, she is super affectionate he is a little less confident but I'm not sure he really knows real affection but I will teach him cuddles and kisses lol

We are being supplied with a coat and leather colla and lead on adoption we just need beds, bowls, treats, a brush and toys well something for them to play with should they choose too.

But should home check go well on Friday which I do not see it being a problem we can collect them this weekend!!!

Oh and for our girlie I found a beautiful name tag which was a love heart and do not shoot me down here as it was fun and not chav but had 2sparkles on the back and the details on the other side. She's a princess for him name is king he deserves something flash too

Fab
Coats u can never hav enough lol
Fleece , and a waterproof lol
I've only got one wot loves toys which she kills lol
Watch out for any furries squirrels n cats n mayb tiny dogs ( they can look like rats from afar ) some may hav a chasing instinct than others
Just hav patience n time n lots of tlc to get know them
Oh don't over feed ,, lots of ppl think they need feeding up as they look light ,,u suppose to see a rib or two feel their pin bones
But I'm sure the rescue will talk about this ,,

Can I ask what do you feed your greys? I do like tinned food too much water not enought goodness usually would choose dry feed but what brand for this breed of dog would up recommend?

Also what's size bed for a small greyhound, more or a lurcher size?

I feed redmills
As I race n course mine the redmills racer is a higher protein
But the redmills tracker lower in protein n can b added to meat
Pet shops don't hav this in but u can order from some ( its cheaper n don't pay vat ..tracker approx £12 per 15 kg bag
Raw is best if u can
Just stay away from bakers
U can buy blocks of frozen raw about 80p a block
Local butchers should give or small charge for raw bones
If I do feed the odd tin it's chappie ( my older girl on lower protein diet ) or butchers tripe
If greyhounds kept as pets keep the protein levels lower
Hope this helps
Beds depending how big ya dogs r
Both mine are 19 tts ( whippets ) my foster is 22 tts in they hav large beds ( two seater sofa n share half single quilt ish )

No no! Not on the sofa that's one thing I will put my foot down too but morning cuddles in bed is defiantly allowed.

Ahem- shamelessly stolen from another forum, and intended for whippets but:

10 basic useful commands for a whippet owner.

1.The whippet is not allowed to step inside the house

2. Ok, the whippet may step inside the house, but only in a few restricted area.

3. The whippet is allowed to walk freely inside the house, but away from the furniture.

4. The whippet may step only in the old furniture.

5. Allright, the whippet may step on any furniture, but it's absolutely forbidden to sleep in bed with humans.

6. OK, the whippet can sleep in the bed, as long as invited.

7. The whippet is allowed to sleep in your bed whenever wanted, but never under your blankets.

8. The whippet is allowed to sleep under your blankets if invited.

9. The whippet is allowed to sleep in your bed, under your blankets every night.

10. Humans should ask the whippet for permission to sleep in their beds and under their blankets

Let us know how quickly you get through the numbers :)

Found this and made us laugh

Oh you have to let greyhounds on the sofa! It's their prerogative ;)
In fact the appropriate authorities will remove them unless they have full access to all sofas in the house for at least 24hrs a day.

Wish we could have another greyhound, but with two cats and two teeny rat dogs it wouldn't be wise to have another dog which chases small furries for sport ;)
