lol yep, got one of those on our yard! Works part time, looks after 1 horse. Family are all teenagers, so capable of looking after themselves. Still has to whinge that she can't possibly turn out her own horse because she's too busy. Then spends hours at the yard, not riding, and whinges because her husband will be upset because she's late back.

I get up at 5am to do my horse before work, work through lunch to finish early to get her in before dark, and I don't even get the pleasure of riding her (she's retired). I don't think I'm very unusual.

And yet this woman has the nerve to whinge to me that she's "so busy" and "very tired". AAARGH! Shut up, you don't get up til nearly 8am, don't tell me you're bleeding well tired!!!! In fact, the other day, she said to me "Oh, I often think of you down here in the mornings when I wake up at 7.30. Especially if it's raining. I think how horrible it must be." I replied "Actually, at 7.30 I'm back home and in the shower getting ready for work".

Sorry, just thought I'd join in on your rant!!!

NOT to this lot!!!!!!!!!!!! BLOODY ladies who lunch!!!

sorry should rephase,

Who would like to lunch but ONLY if your PAYING (so even worst - LAZY spongers!!!!)

Oooh....can I join in please?

3 horses, full time job...like you lot I am mucking out by 6.20am...back home in shower for 7.30 then drop kids off and on my way to work....today I have a bag of yard gear in the boot because when I finish at 5.30 I'm off straight to bring the horses in, make up haynets etc etc whilst OH cooks tea.

Then theres the ones whose horses are out at 11am. because the owners can't be arsed to come down any earlier (evenb though they don't work or do about 16hours a week), never ride or handle their horses because they 'don't have time' and then complain that my horses are in better condition/cleaner/better behaved/daughter is a better rider/win more rosettes than them etc etc etc........well put the bloody effort then or as you say....SELL UP!!!

Phew...feel better for that, thankies

"...if you want something done, ask a busy person!"

I'm up at 630, mucked out, fed and turned out etc by 730am, work a 9 hour shift then straight back to the yard to do it all again and get home about 7pm. AND IVE ONLY GOT ONE HORSE!! medals and hot chocckys to those who have more, its hard graft. and to those who work part time and complain-get a clue!!! haha

Agh, tell me about it! I'm not at a yard anymore but used to have 1 at a yard, 2 at home, work full time and study for my degree. The woman I shared the field with at the yard hardly ever poo-picked despite not working because she felt it was wasted time!!

Yep. Horses are alot of hard work and committment. If you can't organize your life to recognise that, you shouldn't have one, end of. Spend the money on top quality riding lessons instead. I spend 3 hours per day driving as a result of owning a horse and seeing to her twice a day. Most of the others only get seen once, and sometimes less than that. Like Rana, I don't even ride any more. I regularly used to see horses still unfed and in their stables at midday because their owner wanted a lie-in. I do have a lie-in of 1 hour at weekends because I get up at 7am instead of 6am. The cat makes sure I'm well aware of what the time is!

In a way i'm so glad it not only happens around me................... Normally i avoid this person, NOT defo re-phase i'm done and dusted even before they turn up
wink.gif

But i was caught today................... NEXT time i'll RUN, but she also had cheek to ask for HELP??????????? good job the voice in my head stayed their as the words F and Off where whizzing round!!!

ooo don't start me!
Knew someone on a yard that doesn't work, leaves horses out (can't be ar$ed to muck out) fetches in horse around 12, faffs around till 2 or 4 (or whenever anyone else wants to ride) rides in school for 20 mins, faffs around for another 3 or 4 hours then turns out in pitch black and is determined to be the last person on the yard NO MATTER WHAT yet won't lock up after themselves as "Thats what the YO is for"!!!!

Before I took the plunge and went freelance I was up at 5am to muckout, feed, turnout my 2 horses. 45 min drive to work by 7. Work til 6, back by 6.45, to then ride 2 horses, feed, and settle for the night. Finishing at about 10pm, bit of dinner then straight to bed, this was 6 days a week, generally with no lunch breaks as there was only me and 1 other groom working on a yard of 30 horses! All of which were full liveries! One of liveries then complained how busy they were, even though they didn't work, and had 1 child and a housekeeper! I don't think some people know what busy is! It's so nice now I can pick when Iwork, and make sure I leave plenty of time for my horses!

My hat is off to you ladies!
smile.gif
I couldn't physically do what you do, regarding the early mornings; I'd be a wreck in no time. That's one reason for him to be on grass livery. But I'm the person who's riding in the dark, rain, snow, and wind, and am often the very last person on the yard in the evenings, and don't whinge!

I know one of these, nightmare. Didnt have time to do her horse so paying someone to look after her. She doesnt even have a job!!!!!!!!!!! FFS

Its never good to judge someones circumstances and defo not good to post on a forum you may get found out!!

The really annoying ones are ones who think they're pippa funnel and certainly are not, people to get what they want willingly use people but actually we are laughing at them.

I used to have 4 jobs and a hunter who i exercised in the dark due to limited time fed in the dark and put to bed in the dark, i now have commitments that come before my 7 horses mostly youngsters so 3 are turned away, 3 stabled 1 away on loan and i dont feed until after the school run but this doesnt make me a bad owner, i have 3 kids one reg disabled which isnt just full time job its 24hrs a day.

but im sure if you came to my yard you would most prob judge me too.

i bet if you seen these peoples horses they look and feel fab.

If I recall correctly- the rant wasn't at the likes of you with jobs/commitments...it was aimed at the annoying sort who has no job, no commitments yet still can't manage to put the horses out on time.

Theres a couple on my yard too.....and no, their horses don't look fab.
wink.gif

Haha! Completely agree! We've got someone on the yard who expects others to come down to turn her horse out for her all year, (even when the other peoples horses are living out) so she only has to do one trip down a day even though she doesnt work!

I knew someone who lived across the road from her yard at the time, and had the horse on full livery!?!! I suppose if you can afford it, why not?

Careful you say nothing. I got a broadside last week from a woman who was leaving the yard who accused me of arrogance, thinking i'm better than her oh and I don't look after my horse properly. Maybe I am a fella but it really upset me. Next day she went in a manner that really annoyed the YO. I'm down there every night cleaning out, grooming, and generally spoiling my boy. Last 3 months I've seen her 4 times and at one point we were helping with her pony cos he's such a cute guy and we felt sorry for him out this winter with no rug. Grrrrrr. Creates such a crappy atmosphere in the yard too.

to mirror the other posts - she has no job either. Is there a pattern forming here?

BTW we set it up so his stable is open and has access to his paddock so he has the freedom to do what he wants. I'm not being lazy and he seems to like it loads
smile.gif
He's settled down so well.

Love your horse smiley tuttlebum. Mind if i pinch it?
