Can someone recommend a good supportive bandage system for exercising/showjumping? It's so confusing with all the different types of bandages these days. In the past it was always exercise bandages with gamgee but now there a polo wraps, and bandages which are half and half?!?!? The reason I'm asking is that my horse has decided that his definatly does NOT want to wear boots! Strange I know. He's always had tendon & fetlock boots every time he's ridden for the last 3 years, however he started really kicking them off when trying to put them on. Took a while to figure it out so left him without for a few months then tried again with a totally different set, worked for a while but then kept kicking them off whilst I was trying to put them on again then started bucking with them on so stopped putting them on. However he loves his stable bandages and stands stock still for them to be put on (same for travel boots). We are now jumping bigger tracks and complex grids and looking to affiliate early next year and just a but worried about injuries so was thinking of bandages but confused and need advice.

Thanks for reading!!

No bandage can offer support but the best ones I find to protect against minor scrapes are HKM solid coloured bandages (the patterned ones are smaller than the solid ones), they are long, wide and have longer velcro attachments. Far superior to any other type of bandage on the market designed for exercise and you don't need to put anything underneath them xx

They are crap, IMO obviously!

For years I have polo bandaged using HKM or JHL or Eskadron bandages, I now use Eskadron climatex pads underneath HKM with current horse, as his legs get v.hot and sweaty with just the bandages so needs the climatex to wick the moisture. Unless you are experienced bandaging, anything with elasticated fibres that arent used with a good pad can do a lot more harm than good. I would have a look at boot options instead. I would try the wrap style ones like Veredus or WW do a wrap type boot I think.
