Hello! My 4 year old is ever so slightly sticky on his left hind (makes me giggle because I have very mild erb's palsy in my left shoulder, what a pair!) and I wondered if anyone had any specific pole grid or layouts they would recommend for riding or for long-reining, the more creative the better, for a baby he's fabulous at placing his feet and I'd love to give him something to think about!

TIA x

Thanks for posting this as Im having the same issue at the mo with my 3 yr old. She is so much better when out and Im dreading her having to spend more time in her stable with Winter fast approaching. She was seriously stuck the other week and I ended up getting the vet as it did unlock but then locked again and again. He isnt overly concerned given her age and sods law when he arrived she seemed so much better but we are giving Myaplast a go, along with trying to strengthen her back end up. It is difficult with her being unbacked though to do much apart from walking out and a bit of pole work as I dont really want to be lunging her lots as she is so immature so will be great to see your replies.

I've been doing an awful lot of long-reining (with some guidance from Claire Lilley's book!) honestly I don't know where I'd be without it. Since your girl is unbacked that might not be possible, but we've also been doing looooooooooads of in-hand work including introducing turn on the forehand/backhand and lateral work all in a headcollar. Almost everything you can do under saddle you can do from the ground with some patience (and a pocket full of treats ;) )

My physio gave mine pole exercises with the poles raised at one end and my vet said lots of hills. Mine is seven and both sides can stick when asking him to pick up his feet. It's worse when he is kept in more during the winter but never causes any ridden problem.
