posted in here as i doubt i will get a response in CR

im going to teach a girl at the yard, and i was just wondering what other exercises i can try with her

i also will need some on how to get her to relax and become more confident

little welsh a, thats a bit of a t*at sometimes.. quite speedy, picks his legs up.. and shes obv lost her confidence..
but her mum said to push her to do it if i know she can
shes about 10 :P
 
So she's not a complete beginner and she can ride off the lead rein?
I would get some jump wings out or cones or whatever you have and make a sort of bending poles. This'll help her to get control on where she wants to go and hopefully slow the pony up a bit.
Get some poles out and make little pathways for her to walk through and make them thinner so she has to be accurate. If you have poles that are striped colours, ask her to stop on a colour. So that front legs are oneside of pole back legs the other. Can do this from walk and trot.
Just lots of stuff to teach her accuracy whilest having fun. Do some handy pony or games or something whilest instructing her about how to improve etc.
 
yes she can ride off lead rein, but i said if she wanted me to i will walk.run next to her to start with

i did think about halt transitions over poles, getting her to get 2 fronts over or 1 front or 3 legs etc and stop
loads of balancing exercises... no reins etc.. obvs i will hold the pony :L

I did some bareback riding (on the lunge) with my daughter for a change which she enjoyed. She likes doing all the round the world and half scissors etc and touching the ears and tail etc. Lots of no stirrups and putting knees up and out and stretch back down. I also find if you can find a friend to ride at the same time it helps build confidence.

Once you start all your childhood lessons will come flooding back!
 
i dont know whether her mum will let me do bareback; and the fact if anyone saw me they may complain

oh i never thought of doing round the world and stuff....

im really looking forward to it
