Hi,

As per the title, Im looking for schooling ideas to do around a farm.
There is a menage but it is quite deep at one end so I tend not to use it.

Any tips / suggestions greatly welcomed as I have a horse which really benefits from the work and using his brain.

Many thanks in advance
Emily

I don't have an arena so I do quite a bit of schooling just out on a hack. I ask for leg yield across the lane, shoulder in along the side of the hedge. Transitions up and down the paces. Obviously there is a limit to how much you can do in a narrow country lane as you can't do serpentines or circles unless you have more room. There is a book called Schooling as you Hack which has lots of ideas in it.

I also do not have an arena so use hacking for most of my schooling and then hack to my RI yard which is about 30 mins ride away for jumping lessons but we do have a fab section of the forest where we can put up jumps in the summer - and yes that book is great :)
