My centre lines in walk are atrocious! I seem to be able to manage them quite nicely in trot but, for some reason, in walk, they’re really wobbly!

I’ve been doing 10m circles off the centre line, three-quarter lines (which don’t seem as bad for some reason) and squared-off serpentines. Is there anything else I can be doing to help?

Pop some poles out as channels? Gives you something visual. Also echo going a bit faster, the slower you go the more opportunity they have to wobble.

also how is your lateral work? When my mare drifts I use leg yielding/shoulder in to put her back depending on how she’s drifting.

Thanks. Yes, I think perhaps I’m concentrating too much and losing forwardness.

My lateral work is OK (on a basic level). I think I need to be more subtle with it as a correction though as I seem to end up with a situation of over-correction where I’m drifting one way and then the other and end up with a zig-zag! ?

Look up and out over the top of the judges box and you will be straight. Stare at the ears, crest or even worse your hands and you will be crooked. That was what a good instructor told me and it worked.

I was also told to ride shoulder fore and again you will be straight.
