Some things to try- 20 metre circle, canter, trot, canter, trot. When you go from trot to canter, really think about the rhythm of the trot and count down into canter (3, 2, 1.. strike) to try and avoid running into canter.

When in canter, imagine an invisible cord that attaches your horses neck to your belly button. Really engage your core and imagine your horses neck coming up towards you rather than down and tanking you around. I’ve been doing this a lot recently and the difference I can make to the canter by engaging in my core just shows me how little I was using my core previously!

yes - exactly this. I thought I was using my core, I was...but absolutely not enough. This and more leg has transformed what I’ve been able to get.
I’ve been making some wonderful noises engaging my core ? I don’t know if he’s responding to my aids or thinking heck I best slow down I think she’s dead back there!
