Exercising in the heat

We just don't go out in it

He is the type to stay fairly furry all year round so I just ride early morning/late evening when its hot.
Rode at 8.30 PM the other day. Felt a bit silly but it was nice and cool. Even then he was all sweaty when we got back!

I try to avoid riding in the midday heat and go up early morning or evening instead, but other than that I ride as normal.

I use it to my advantage as baking hot days are one of the few times my loopy horse becomes lazy!

Same excercise, when ever suits me. I don't change the amount of time he works, as he only gets about 45mins, which he can do even in very hot weather, but if he was unfit I would go untill he starts Puffing alot or sweating

If it's really hot I ride her in the late evening, and she still gets sweaty

If I'm working I don't get to the yard until 6.45 anyway so it works out

I usually ride at about 6 anyway, after work, my section d is 19 so these days has a fairly heavy summer coat and we only school in the week and its pretty hard work. Thought he'd struggle but he hasn't at all, Ive been struggling but there's no stopping him at all, really up for it. If I felt he wasn't then i'd not do it.

I ride at 6am so not too much of a problem. I would avoid taking my lad out in the heat of the day as he does not do too well in it and would just be slow and sluggish and fed up. He is black so suffers a bit in the heat and prefers to spend the heat of the day stood in his field stable dozing.

Heat normally affects me more than him, so I go out early in the morning if it's too hot. On Tuesday I was so pooped with the heat I sat watching him graze for 10 mins after work, before I got a guilt attack and got changed!! He was surprisingly active!

Pottamus, I didn't know there were two 6 'o' clocks!
