My horse has had diagnosis znd treatment , vet suggested long reining but there's no way he would tolerate roller at moment . What timescale did you start to see some form of recovery after injections . He's had shock wave snd booked in for physio this eve and on danilon so surprised he still avoiding me touching/ grooming back area . Could do with some feedback please :)

My pony has been diagnosed with kissing spines. We did the injections, and i think we did a few days off, few days lunge and got on and he said we would feel a difference. Unfortunately there was no difference. She then had sacroiliac injection where she had few days off, 1 week inhand walking, 1 week lunging then i could get back on her. Looked brill on lunge, ridden she was horrid and as soon as i got on her she buggered of broncing!. My other lad had sacroiliac issue last year and my vet said around 2 weeks is when its at the highest point and when you should really see a different!

I had physio out and we found area on withers where he needed treatment so hes now tolerating roller and I long reined this eve. Sounds like you havent had good experience ,Ive been told no lunging or tight circles .Been huge improvement since physio has been out and much happier and moving nicely in field, Time will tell I suppose . Did you have further treatment or call it a day.

That's good!Do you need more treatment?? Had zero luck with all of this. Been going on 8 months now, and 6 months of that was me persuading them to xray her back!! I know a few people have said they have been told no lunging etc, but all of my vets/physio have said to lunge so we can get them moving etc! They keep saying she doesn't need an op even though nothing has worked for her and you cant ride her. Back next week to see if they will do op on her or something.

i have an exracer who had si and kissing spine, he was an absolute danger to ride and would rear and flip. Got the injections and was brought back into work very slowly. Was told to handwalk, then long rein, then lunge. Followed all instructions and eventually was given the go ahead to get back on board. He still felt awful and was uncomfortable to ride, his back felt arched and he was still tail swishing. I had him on full livery with turnout, but couldn't justify the cost so turned him out to grass livery 24/7 to retire.

Brought him in nine months later out of curiosity when my other horse was injured, and he seemed 100 times happier in himself and his movement. Worked with a physio to rehab him and he is a completely different horse now. he is a pleasure to ride and we can go out to do low level dressage classes happily. He will never be 100% though - he will tire after 40 mins of riding, and his comfort level jumping is only about 70cm. Any higher and he seems to find it hard. But i'm thrilled he can be useful again as he looked like retirement was his only option.

I am going through a similar thing with my boy at the moment, although less extreme, and through searching the internet came accross a group on facebook called 'horses with kissing spine', if you're on facebook then it's worth a read, lots of success stories on there :)

Thanks everyone for the input, I will go on on fb and have look. Exercises with poles are going really well tail swishing and ears back have stopped hes so much happier , bit too playful but hes pleasure to be around now. I put saddle on today and girthed it up with no problems. he still anticipates pain when I touch his back onlywhen I first bring him but after all in hand and long reining he relaxes. I never had bad issues riding he just bronced one day after saddling and stretching front legs fortunately I was on ground at time. He has two process one nearly touching and one touching, hopefully building up top line will help. Hes on muscle building supplement and weight has improved plus hes so much less anxious and will come in happily rather than stressing when he leaves his field mates.I feel si has really improved more concerned about ks at moment.
