Expected turnout for unaffiliated dressage

My current aim is to get my coloured cob mare to a unaffiliated dressage competition at the end of the summer - she has feathers, thick tail and full mane currently!

How would she be expected to be turned out for the test?

If you have her as a full cob then you can ride in plaited.
I have friends who prefer to put in a full running plait along the crest with horses with full manes- but i think that is personally choice.

As long as you are smartly turned out it im sure the judges will be fine!

Scrubbed and polished till she gleams and if you wish a running plait but not compulsory.
 
Check with the centre that is holding the dressage, but I'm my experience they tend to run with the same rules as though it was BD.

Im sure you can find the BD rule book on the BD website.

Turnout tends to be smart, some people plait, others don't. No martingale or boots on the horse. Some allow schooling whips others dont. Gloves are a must- BD states white or light coloured 'preferred' but ive always got away with my black gloves. ;)

You could always give the centre a quick call and check that what youre planning on wearing will be ok; it will save any stress last minute on the day!
 
When we went to the Trailblazers finals there were quite a few hairy colored cobs. They were all turned out natural with flowing names not plaited at all & looked fab. One stabled next to us won a class too x
