Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of building an outdoor arena in an AONB, or specifically the Eden Valley (cumbria). I'm looking for Does and don'ts, companies you would recommend or would avoid, approx cost for 20x40 and any other helpful tips. Is there anything specific I should ask companies when looking for a quote?

Also any suggestions for when building, what to include, what not to include? We live on top of a hill, it rains most days, its windy most days, its personal use only and I don't need lights.

Although, I have a decent budget, I don't have never ending pockets of money so I need to be cost efficient and don't want to waste money.

Thanks

bumping for you - sorry not much help but would be interested to see any replies.
If you don’t get any replies, try reposting but without the specific part about the aonb in the title, perhaps?

Think about surface/fencing so it blends in with local area. Worth reading through previous planning apps that have been approved in your area for ideas too.

Can you do a search for ‘equestrian’ or ‘arena’ on your local planning authority’s website?
this is always a good start i find to see what has been approved and declined and for what reasons.
Also a good place to find architects etc in the local area who seem to get planning approved more easily!

Equestrian surfaces were really good with mine. Silica sand with fibre topping that gets mixed into top few inches. If your in a windy spot.. don’t go for any of the “stand alone fibre” surfaces... friends of mine have had problems with fluffy being blown out of arenas.
