I had the vet out to sedate for physio yesterday, and over the last few visits we have been monitoring a small raised lump that has appeared on the left side of her back, directly under where the panel of her saddle is. It's been fine, hasn't grown or changed, she is completely unfazed by it, but we're pretty sure it's another sarcoid (she has one on her stifle).
He's suggested options being surgery to cut it out, if the surgeon thinks the skin would stretch, or Liverpool cream. Both seem to have pros and cons? I think I'd prefer surgery if possible as I think she'd find Liverpool cream too traumatic. Where it is located it will put her out of action for a while, has anyone experienced similar, I know the rehab time for the surgery would be less than the Liverpool cream purely on the basis that it's gone immediately.

I had a sarcoid removed from my mare's face by my vet. There was no discussion about Liverpool cream, etc. Vet simply said 'I will excise it under sedation', which he did. He put in about 6 stitches which stayed there for a couple of weeks and we twtiched her to remove them. I didn't bridle her for several weeks and was careful when I put the halter on to avoid the wound. Now you have to know it's there to be able to see the scar, which is quite close to her lip. There was no problem finding enough skin to close the wound.

It's an very unusual place to get a sarcoid and a very common place to get small fibrous lumps which cause no trouble at all to most horses. Why is your vet sure it's sarcoid? I'm not sure I'd want Liverpool cream treatment under a saddle, because it does scar and not always flat. If the skin can be stretched, I'd go for surgical excision and treat the resulting scar with vitamin E/bio oil to get it as smooth as possible.

Incisions for kissing spine ops heal really well in a few weeks. I'm guessing this would be similar.
