Hi! I’m on my 10th year searching for a saddle and a stablebuddys Albion Legend k2 dressage fits like a glove on my mare. The are relative cheap in my area but I usally dont like dressage saddles. I have ridden in saddles with big kneeblocks and find them horrible and I always loose my stirrups. My saddlemaker said that the albion legend k2 dressage is a bit more to the allround/gp saddle because it doesnt have deep seat and you can raise your stirrupsleathers a few holes. Im going to try my stablebuddys saddle. We only ride for like 10min currently so I would love some advice from others how the feel about the saddle as it can be a bit difficult to get the whole picture with 10min riding 😅 We are not going to do any jumping, just hacking out.

It's very individual and ultimately comes down to your pelvic shape, your hip conformation and whether the saddle optimises both those, then also how your leg is able to hang (underneath you with some internal rotation is the goal) depending on the horse's ribcage shape and how your leg is supported by the flap.

For instance if you have a wide, short pelvis but are fitted into a big seat, with stirrup bars forwards of where you sit, a regular double flap as on the K2 on a wide ribcage and you have narrow hips, then you're going to really struggle. Other riders with different skeletons and different shaped horses, even if they fit the same saddle, will find it completely different in terms of comfort and optimisation.

If you get all this right then the rider is much better stabilised with an open seat (the right size and shape to support the pelvis) and small blocks, high cantles and big blocks cause tension and ultimately leverage by the rider onto the horse's back, no matter how much some people love them.
