My mare was fine last night, my sharer let me know she was stiff/lame this morning when she turned her out but she's not very experienced and I was at work so unable to be contacted.
When I got up to see her after work I found a very lame, very swollen leg (yo had pulled her in mid afternoon as she was pretty lame in field but said it wasn't anywhere near so swollen as this evening). Vet came and thinks she has lymphangitis. She's had IV antibiotics, NSAID's and corticosteroids. He's coming back tomorrow for more IV antibiotics and NSAID's and, if she's more comfortable, she's to go out.

Please can you share your experiences of dealing with this, how long it took to resolve and what the long term consequences were?

If this is the first time and you have caught it fairly quickly it may resolve and with care not return, it tends to be progressive, each flare up is worse and takes more time/ treatment to resolve, she may get flare ups from the tiniest scratch, from being in too long or having too much feed, they are all different.
Once she is over this really look at her routine and management, get her out as much as possible, cut down her feed and up her work, I have used this herbal product with success on a mare that had a bout, her leg continued to come up overnight but this got her circulation improved and made a real difference, I like that you know what you are giving them unlike many herbal products that are not labeled properly so you have no idea what is in it.

Will have a look at that - I use their gastrix as she tends to be ulcery and really like it.
She's only just started in at night and is out all day every day. Work wise she's in light hacking mainly at the moment and only feed is laminitis light balancer and chaff - she's a fatty so no calories in feed ideally.

Never had anything like this but suspect it's got in from her heels as we've been battling a dermatitis for a few months that won't clear up properly
