Explosive behaviour - looking for the cause

In the school is another issue. He just gets explosive as soon as he gets in there. If I get on with someone on the ground and walk quietly in a small circle in one corner next to the mirror, I can work up to trot. But if I leave the mirror or anything happens to set him off, explosive again.
Yes interesting thought. He doesn’t like leaving others but he did have constant company (high quality company, wee Timmy 🦄🦄) and was turned out from 8 weeks again with company. He has never actually been alone in his life tbh which hadn’t occurred to me until now.

Food for thought, thanks!
so if he sees a horse in the mirror does he see company, he moves out of sight of the mirror image and the company has left him? If you take him in the school, unmounted but with a bridle and you walk at the saddle area using the reins and a schooling whip on his off side so you are basically riding him but on the ground (where you are safe) and take his best friend in but keep them totally glued to each other and leave the mirror. What happens? happy with his friend by his side, doesn't need the mirror any longer?

In the show car park did he had have friends (his own friends to look after him not just any other horses who would be doing their own thing and not bonding with him)
so he was put in a stressful situation, alone, no friends to look after him and panic. Couldn't cope. Maybe not a lot for an ordinary horse to cope with but he has had a lot of stress with the operation etc. It may need only the slightest little thing that upsets his thinking and worries him and then panic, he explodes.

Try repeating that situation but take his personal friend with him. Glued together at all times. What happens.

If that works then keep them together at all times when he is working for a long time. It is just one idea of many to try but if it showed any success you would be left with 2 horses to separate when riding which will be a lot easier than trying to decide which part of his body is causing pain.
Sorting a mental problem if there is one will be a lot cheaper than a vet's bill and even after treatment/tests would still be there

Dr Green and physio, bring him back into work for a couple of months and if no improvement, vet?

This. But maybe also scope for ulcers at the same time as it could be a quick win before letting him decompress. We’re going into winter soon anyway :(

For body work… I’d firstly start off with a chiro. If that improved I’d then look at physio, hopefully more improvements made, then finish off with something like equine touch/Bowen/masterson
