Very, very excited about going to watch this next week. Was discussing with my instructor during my lesson today about who would win (he then told me off for procrastinating). Didn't stop him telling me he thought Nicolas Touzaint was in with a shout.

I reckon that Bettina Hoy and Lucinda Fredericks with their fab dressage could be very hard to beat. Although I'm not sure how the weighting of marks in the different sections is going to affect the over all results.

Who do you think is going to win?

Didn't Lucinda slice her thigh open so probably continued riding anyway!?
Well I hope its a jumping competition and not a dressage one!!!
Have no idea how the horses are going to cope in the arena but Brit has won some eventer GP thingys so has a good chance

I don't think Lucinda will be riding as Clayton said she suffered from an infection after her injury at Pau and had to go at hospital and couldn't go with him to Oz.

I'd put my money on Nicolas Touzaint or WFP but will be rooting for Clayton all the way

I think you will find that Lucinda is still riding. She is just out of hospital but has every intention of riding and will be out to win it I'm sure - don't write her off yet!

and i think you will find millicent is entirely correct unless mrs fred has been strapped to her bed by her doctor! when i saw her a few days ago she said the girls have een keeping brit fit and luckily she is so established cinda can pretty much just get on her and go as long as passed fit. i would be most surprised if she rules herself out a chance before the last minute considering while she was rolling on the floor at pau she was asking the assembled if they thought she would be ok to ride at cardiff!!

Isn't the dressage slightly different though as in it's to music? So it may well favour other people than the normal "leaders after dressage"

Tina or Mary to win though obviously

Out of interest do they have a reserve in case someone does pull out? I'm guessing they'll want to have 20 horses whatever happens to keep the timings and prize money right?

With Andrew Loyd Webber and Arlene Philips judging the dressage you may well get a very different result to normal

I wonder if they will go to the judges panel for comments aka strictly stylee

yes there is they cant aford to have loads last minute withdrawals, with only twenty runners. expect a few of the locals are on it as well as austin i.e. gauntlett, chris king who could pretty much tack up and turn up if ness.
and you are right teapot it a four minute test in which they have to show several required movements including tempi chnges i think. cinda did tell me but i have been rubbish and forgotten. tina has been practising with dane rawlings.

I think you will possibly find that I am slightly better informed than you!!!

i wouldnt count on it boss, cos i know who millicent is and maybe you dont

and as i said when i saw cinda, less than a week ago, she was dead set on going so i think we ought wait and see tho persoanlly i think it wwill be a miracle if she makes it.

I have no idea who Millicent is but, assuming she isnt currently working there, I doubt very much if she can beat my knowledge

We shall see

assume nothing boss, i am of course well aware of who you are and your connection to the yard
smile.gif
but i know lucinda as well as anyone on this forum and this i know, that until i see her officially withdrawn i wouldnt count her out, not with that much money at stake, bit like most of the others except poss WFP who doesnt need the money but i bet he damn well wants it!

boss went to HK with Alec as his guest as i understand it which means i am sure she saw alot of team fred while there. However i know millicent is in regular contact, has vistied Cinda recently and like me knows her well enough to know cinda in never out until she is out.
and also lec i dont really think its appropriate to be naming RL names on here tho we may well be certain who we all are in RL, i think on forums people are entitled to be anon if they want and arent causing trouble.

*snigger*

I haven't a clue who might win, as the inclusion of Arlene and Andrew could throw it completely - I think it is a great idea to have them judging though!

If Arlene's judging on Strictly is anything to go by, the male riders only need to shake their hips a bit and they're guaranteed top marks! Hope the other dressage judges even things out a bit!

If Millicent really wanted to be anon then she probably shouldn't have linked her website in quite so many of her posts - it's perfectly obvious who she is and has been from the day she started posting pretty much!

I'm really looking forward to it, should be great fun - cannot wait to see what they tell us in the dressage masterclass and I hope they let the judges comment too. I wonder - will KP have led the way in terms of dressage attire and will we perhaps see WFP with glittery hoof oil on his horse?

***rushes off to find out who Millicent is because sadly I have absolutely no idea***

But PMSL about the glittery hoof oil
grin.gif
Perhaps I can buy some for little Bob, I bet they are selling everything they can in the way of merchandise on the day

ETS: oh right, Millicent, yeah know who she is now
