I know all stirrups are extendable but i once borrowed some which were very unusual. they were leather but at the top there was webbing which you hooked onto the buckle at the top. the idea was that you could let the stirrup down (by unhooking the webbing) and then back up again (by hooking it on). i can imagine they are for hunting etc but i cant find them anywhere! i have googled for hours but i dont know what they are called so its a bit tricky!
any ideas???

I know what you mean - ours came from Berney Bro.s in Ireland, they call them hunting leathers I think.

We nicknamed them the granny leathers!

They call them granny stirrups at my yard too. I had some, but as I recall, they were altered to include the webbing, by a saddler (only one was altered actually). TBH they never helped me much. I am a bit of a granny, and I didn't have enough 'spring' to mount from the longer stirrup.
