sorry maybe a long post bear with my rambling...

Just wondering what do those of you that are lucky enough to be able to go on holiday arrange for ones horses.

A friend asked if I was going to be getting a horse and I said "not at this time as I have only just gotten back into riding.
However in a year or so I would hope I would be able to" but then suddenly thought eek holiday so not doable. (We go to France for between 6 and 8 weeks in the year)

Am I right in having to accept i will not be in a position to have my own horse altogether now or have I missed a solution that would enable me to reconsider a horse in a year or so.

i do appreciate how lucky I am already really!

Well, if you are intending to keep your new horse on full livery, then you will have no problem! If you keeping him/her at home or DIY, then you will have to make arrangements for when you are away.

Otherwise, there a number of places who offer holiday livery, but they tend to get booked up well in advance. Spur of the moment holidays are much more complicated when you get back into horse ownership!

Thanks for that, I never had my ponies (when I was younger) at livery, lived on a small holding so that never even occured to me. Definately food for though and very much appreciated.

One of my liveries goes on holiday a lot ! Even though she is supposed to be on diy! She's off for new year for a week;

Be prepared to pay, I charge £50 a week extra, that's on top of the livery which is £140 a month. £10 on top of that for a bank holiday.
