I am currently looking for a new dressage horse and I am trying to decide whether to view one which is some distance away (two days, realistically, to do the viewing). I have seen videos of him recently and also of him as a foal, and in all of them he holds his tail out behind him either horizontally or raises it vertically above his backside. He was entire in the recent shots, and this "flagging" is not uncommon in a stallion, but there is no video available of him without this tail "poking". His mother also appears to do it to some extent though there is very limited footage of her.

Would this concern anyone, because it doesn't look quite right to me, almost as if he cannot produce his undoubtedly stunning paces without bracing his tailbone? He is currently unbroken, so will it disappear with training or will he always do it, do you think? It does appear tense and I am sure it will lose him some marks in the arena.

Thanks for your views.

Thanks chaps. Probably due to him being recently cut then. Now I will post and ask about Crack C offspring because I am hearing interesting things about their temperament and he is the spitting image of his daddy!

I like to live dangerously Bruce :) I once had one which I backed using a harness hujg from the roof like a circus trick rider! I'm too old for that now, hence the question. I saw a lovely moving mare today, though, and she is already riding quietly, so I may just buy her instead.
