Could anyone give me some advice as to teach a horse extended trot without them running or going round doing a fifth gate trot lol? How did you teach your horse? Any good tips?

We found the best way to teach Bodey my cob was with poles. Each time going over them lengthening the distance a bit. I still have to keep a constant contact and use my stomach muscles to control the pace but I rise higher and keep my legs wrapped round. It’s still not perfect but we can get a few good paces and I’m only competing Novice so that’s good enough for now.

Hope that helps a bit?
