Please can those of you with neddies with big noggins reccomend me a nice good quality bridle around the £100 mark? just a plain huter nose / browband ideally please!

My CB Boy currently has a nice Stubben XF bridle which is 41cm across the headpiece from split to split (you know where it splits in two for the Throat lash and cheeks), 45cm brow and a nose with an 82cm circumference... It fits ok but I can't help feeling it is a little tight around his ears... any suggestions?

How about sabre? They are lovely! Could look at jefferies too, very nice quality - that way you could just measure your boy up and then call them and you can just buy the bits you need in the size you want.
What size brow band are you after? I had a silly mess up with measuring and accidentally made a massive one (havanna, raised) so have one spare that is waay too big for our two!

I have had different pieces of mine made specially, by a local saddler, to fit different horses. I'm not sure now how much of the original bridle still exists!

Sabre here too - you can buy the parts seperately too if you need a custom bridle like me (mare in cob noseband & cheeks but full browband), excellent quality and not ridiculously expensive :)

Oooh! Lemetex! I'd forgotten about them!

I thought I'd struck gold with Jeffries... and was going to order the different bridle parts as he is currently in cob sized cheek pieces, with the rest of the bridle being XF...But according to their sizing chart the bits that I could do with being a little bit bigger (brow and headpiece) are WAAAAAAAY smaller than the stubben..

Extra Full
Headpiece 127cm 50”
Headpiece B 86cm 34”
Headpiece C 35cm 14”
Browband D 42cm 161/2”
Cheeks E 30cm 12”
Noseband F 91.5cm 36”
Noseband G 33cm 13”
Noseband H 28cm 11”
Noseband I 79cm 31”

I don't think I need anuthing MASSIVELY bigger than I already have - 41cm headpiece, 45cm brow and 82cm noseband but an extra cm or two across the brow and headpiece would be nice...

I want it as a second bridle that I can also possibly used for 'best' as I use different bits for schooling and hacking and it would be nice not to have to change them over all the time...

Another vote for Jeffries - needed extra full for parts of the bridle then just full for other parts. Love it and it's conditioned so well! I am gutted as it's brown and i am buying a black dressage saddle shortly....absolutely gutted!

Did you get and extra full headpiece? any chance you could measure it for me from split to split?

Sabre bridles come up small so be careful, my dainty TB mare is in a full size Sabre...

I have an extra full for my big WB and it's really big (in fact if you want to swop your bridle for mine I'd be happy!). It's an ebay one from saddlery4u but is english leather and nice and shiny! It cost £85 inc laced reins...

Depends, do you have a fine boned big noggin or a big clydesdale type noggin? Some of those recommended might look daft on big 'osses:)

Billy has an extra full browband as I also found the full size stubben one a bit on the snug side! He also has an extra full stubben noseband :)
The headpiece and cheek pieces are full size though :) just mix and match! :)

Its a Big Handsome Cleveland Bay style noggin!

....... and that is one stunning noggin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd put a Barnsby on that to show it off!!!;)

lol! Thank you!

I have just re-measured his existing bridle and the headpiece is DEFINATELY 41cm from split to split, making Jeffries waaay too small.

I tried his bridle on him again tonight and the brow is actually fine and the headpiece will do...it's just the way his CB ears are set that makes me wonder if there is anything more generous I guess... will have a hunt around...

Thanks all!

I have a Jeffries headpiece and brow in xfs that is new that I don't use that.is available...
The measurements are for the headpiece first hole to first hole 49cm.
The browband is 42cm.

I also will have an xfs Albion headpiece and slip. Have been measuring a number of bridles as my horse has a jug head as they all vary so much in size. Albion I have found do the biggest browbands at 17'

I love mine from the English Gaiter Co. or EQVVS. Traditional plain cavesson hunter bridle, the Althorpe range. Really lovely rich reddy brown. Harvey has a massive Irish draught head and it's often admired.

Hi, we had the same problem with our CB they do have big noggins, come to think of it they are big all over! We took our stubben bridle to our local saddler and he copied the headpiece for me he also did the headpiece on the leather headcoller. By the way it was cheaper to have it hand made than buy it ready made.

Try Evison Equines Hunter Bridle in XFull - email them for sizing they are helpful :)

I've just got a pair of their reins and am pleased with the quality and suppleness so shall be going back for a bridle :)

Would come in at about £100 for bridle and reins.

This is my big noggin. I have to get his bridles especially made!

That is one gorgeous huge Noggin! Beautiful! and well worth the effort of getting a bridle specially made :)

Thanks for all your help! I am now on the case... i did try the EQvvs Althorpe one but I just wasn't sure about it... shame - it looked so nice in the picture!

Yet another vote for Jeffries - my 15.1 must have had a very big Dad as his head won't fit some full sized bridles (the saddlery didn't believe me until I put his old bridle on the counter). With the Jeffries I've got loads of holes spare.
