looking for a few idea's

my horse is a lovely chap , very laid back , takes everything in his stride , we are looking to start going out at elemntary BD having done a few unaff as practice

however he can be a bit too laid back & some extra spark would bnefit our performance!

i am happy with his feed & that he is getting enough for his workload ( comp mix , oats , alfa a oil , sugar beet - my bhsiism instructor helped me revamp his diet a while ago ) & he is in fab condition & a happy chappy in general & doesn't seem bored with his work & is very settled in his routine

can anyone suggest anything that might help give him a bit of extra spark? a supplement , homeopathic ?

a scoop of each comp mix & oats , 2 for alfa a oil & sugar beet per day , not all at once obviously! can't remember what a scoop of each various feed weights off the top of my head , when we did his diet we weighed a scoop of each feed type then translated the weights we wanted to feed into scoops for ease of feed make up
he is usually on the grass for about 10-12 hours a day & in at night with a haynet ,
ridden just once a day , varying from 3/4 hr schooling at the lightest to a lesson which could be upto 1.5 hours & would be the hardest work he does , competeing every other week roughly & manages the work load easily , ie doesn't run out of steam , sweats very little & doesn't get out of puff & after strenous work heart rate returns to normal quickly

This was exactly the problem with Chocolate, ultra well behaved but lacking that extra pzzazz.
I rang three feed specialists and tried the advice of saracen, they suggested their preparation 14 plus Equijewel.
The results were exaclty what we wanted, and it's controllable by varying the equij.
He is now on 8 lbs of that a day , looks fine and is forward but without any nonsense.
I would give them an email or ring, I was amazed how many products they actually make, and from our experience, they really know their stuff..

My rocket fuel:
Topspec turbo (Micronised oats)
Red cell
(Kossalin blood salts also recommended)

Finally I have some Energest 16, but I haven't started to feed this yet!

I have transformed my very laid back mare with TopSpec Turbo and Kossalin Blood Salts - I feed 1 feed per day, in the evening, of 1 scoop HiFi, half scoop TS Turbo, 450g Ultimate balancer and a cup of black sunflower seeds. She is not silly or spooky but deffo has more get up and go and sparkle.

some products there that i have not tried , will get doing my research on them , interesting that weezy & cotswoldSJ feed a very similsr diet , thanks guys

had a look at topspec turbo , DE is 16 , but protein , oil etc not quoted on website , anyone know?

i am currently feeding D&H microfeed , which is their highest DE race feed , at DE 13.5 , has anyone fed this & moved to topspec turbo , as comparison?

also , i have not used kossolian blood salts before , website doesn't give a recommended daily amount to feed , can anyone give me a rough idea for a horse weighing about 550kg

thanks again!

Do they sell these blood salts online? Or anywhere I can get some info? thx

sorry for being hopeless! how big are the scoops / how long does a tub last , i order my fed & bedding in 3 month batches so need to work out how much of everything i would need to ask my feed merchant to deliver ,
