He looks so much smarter now, I’m really pleased I went for it. I’ll post a better photo once he’s been tidied up and hot clothes. Although I am tempted to keep his knee/hock feather purely for comedic value ?

Might end up having to sedate for his legs, not sure if he’s just tickly or sore. His neck looks quite ‘ridgey’ how they go for sweet itch ponies, I don’t think he does have SI but his skin there isn’t in the best condition so glad I can access it more easily and get him cleaned up and treated.

If anyone is bothered and didn’t see my other post, Piggy weighed in at a reasonably 365kg a couple of days ago ?? I blame that 4” long winter coat for making him look morbidly obese!! He’s still got a little to lose but mainly just needs muscle up. Will post a pic when he’s fit.

Signing off with a photo from just now, my first sit on him. What a wonderful Christmas present ?

Haven’t done a thing with the ponies since before Christmas, been so busy with uni and work plus a yard move. They’re out 24/7 now, literally grabbed Pig out the field with our rising 4yo this afternoon, jumped on and off we went. First proper ride on him and he was foot perfect, I absolutely adore this boy! What a cracking buy he’s turned out to be.

Ears are still hairy and I’ve decided to grow his mane/feather out so he looks like no one owns him but who cares. Will lightly hack then bring him into proper work next month when I have more time.

Will definitely update when he’s fitter!

I have a pony here who grows a really long thick coat. It can make him look enormous but underneath it he is quite slim really. Just like your Piggy.
I remember a vet coming once when he was in full winter coat, and she had to inject him. She was cutting away the hair under his neck, and she'd gone about 2 inches up and said 'Where's his neck?' 😄

It’s crazy isn’t it?! I genuinely thought he was near death he looked that big 🙈

We started couch to 5k yesterday, my first real exercise post covid and it nearly finished me off! Didn’t help that he’s very forward so there was no decent rest periods 😂

The clip and tail are dreadful but he’s not remotely bothered and it’ll grow out, hopefully his Mohican mane stage won’t last too long!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, Pig’s on a rest day and I’m planned a gentle walk after overdoing it with that run.

With my old mare who was morbidly obese our then vet advised putting up a Track system as Strip-Grazing was patently not sufficient to manage her weight.

I’ve just moved onto a c. 5 acre field, they’ve got the lot at the moment purely due to my lack of time. Things will ease up in a month so I’ll be on here asking for help on how best to manage it all 😂

Well, life got in the way and he ended up living out til three weeks ago, fat and hairy. Things went sideways with my daughter’s Welsh so we switched them over (brought him onto a yard from my field) and she’s pinched him off me 😂 Still all very new but he’s looking after her beautifully, even took her to her first PC rally a couple of days ago. He’s been the best buy, I adore the bones of this pony. Weight loss is still a work in progress but he’s looking so much better now. Hoping things carry on well with them and she can take him to camp this summer 🤞🏼

ETA. Please excuse the tack, the bridle is a hand me down off her other pony and I’m hanging fire on a saddle until he’s a bit slimmer. Even then I think it’ll be a huge struggle, her instructor today was saying the same so might end up with a nicer pad. My daughter only weighs 3 stone and I’m not riding at the moment anyway so a pad would be fine
