Does anyone know if you can use the human kind on horses? Puggy (my appy) has a bit of a weepy eye, nothing serious I don't think but I will get him some from the chemist if so.

So yes you can. But. Be so so very careful with equine eyes. At this time of year, ie no flies a weepy eye would for me be enough to call a vet and I’m a bit stingy on calling vets.
I once had a horse with uveitis. Eyes are taken very seriously now.

we seem to have a lot of midges here at the moment so I'm not sure if they might be irritating it. ?‍♀️ there is no yellow discharge at all, the eye is just very slightly swollen underneath and weeping very slightly... I will bathe for a few days and then reassess. I know you can never be too careful with eyes and being an Appy I know they are prone to Uveitis.

Uveitis is watery tear discharge not at all gunky or yellow. In fact if one of mine has a yellow eye infection type discharge I’d pop some golden eye in for a day or so. I’d be less worried about a gunky eye.
Eye watering Is a sign of eye pain.

It might not be that, I don’t want to panic you.
it could also and probably more likely be a little ulcer on the eye surface. Look really closely to see if there is a mark, looks like a tiny indentation.
Id call a vet if it were mine though to be honest.

Interesting! I will be keeping a very close eye on it (excuse the pun!)

If there's a problem, my vet prescribes chloramphenical eye drops which they charge about 20 pounds for. You can buy these at the chemist either as an ointment for a couple of pounds or the drops for a bit more. I keep some in stock so if the vet wants me to use it, I have a cheaper supply.

Don't tell the chemist it's for a horse or they are not allowed to sell it to you.
