Eye Melanomas in Dogs

Have had a quick search on here and couldn't see anything dog-related on this.

Ivy has been diagnosed with 'limbal melanoma' which vet says are likely benign. She has one on the outside corner of each eye (the 'limbal' bit refers to it being on the edge where the white of her eye starts), though the one on the left is barely noticeable. We've agreed to monitor only for now, as they don't appear to be causing Ivy any distress, it's likely to not be sinister, and there is risk associated with the specialist procedure for diagnosis.

Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm interested in whether this sort of thing can resolve or whether others have had to progress things on with diagnosis/treatment if it caused difficulties for the dog.

So what do they look like?
Pen has always had a small spot in one eye, at the bottom of the brown bit. I’m sure it’s getting bigger.
Also I’ve been muttering about a vet check as out shooting she keeps over running retrieves, even marked ones. And she is being more neurotic than usual.
It will probably be something completely different but I think I’ll get her checked out.

They're like little pink lumps in the outside corners of her eyes. On one side is barely noticeable, the other a little bigger. They're hard to see unless she's looking sideways and even harder to get a pic but hopefully you can see one of them here on her left eye.

Sounds like a nevus if she has always had it. Basically an eyeball freckle.

Managed to get a slightly better pic @Clodagh. This is the bigger one of the two lumps. It's interesting you said about Pen's eye spot getting bigger. Ivy went through a phase where the whites of her eyes looked a bit irritated/red. Again it never seemed to bother her but it's interesting that stopped happening and now we have these lumps. Sounds like a good idea to speak to vet if you think they might be changing or starting to cause Pen some trouble.

Sounds like a nevus if she has always had it. Basically an eyeball freckle.
