Eye Opener, had never heard of this till now.

There's been quite a few very long threads about these poor tennesse walking horses. It's an awful awful practice, and I have to say, this video is one of the more sedate ones I have seen (if this is possible), some of the videos posted on here about them has made me feel physically sick. These people need bringing to justice.
 
And the powers that be are still denying it happens, despite the high profile cases recently. Trainers/breeders that don't subscribe to these practices are still being penalised and not given the recognition because there are others illegally getting the desired effect on the gaits.
 
watching it made me cry:o and if this is a sedate one then i better stay clear of the others. Very upsetting to watch such a practice, how on earth this is classed as a nice momement from the horse i do not know.
 
Not watched the link but I've seen similiar if its about the Tennessee walking horses and how they get them to walk weird. It's shocking . I personally don't like the way they walk
 
I can never watch these videos, I totally avoided looking at the ones of that horrid woman who was drawing blood from her horses - the one with the sick fetish :mad: So I don't know what's happening in it but from the sounds of it it's something pretty unpleasent :(

Before we rest on out laurels - our Hackney horses don't have it that much better :(. Some are shod in such a way that their hooves become stacked and this aids their action.

Hideous. Perhaps Karma will ensure these people enter a time warp and are reincarnated as women in ancient China, with three inch bound feet, to ensure that they can only move in a socially valued way: agonising, perpetual pain in every crippled step.
 
What I don't understand is the why.

The horses look ridiculous, the riders look like the worst example of cheap, tacky, snake oil salesmen.

I only recently came across this and was appalled at what they do to the poor horses.
Got to be some sick, twisted individuals.

Totally agree, they walk like a chicken and don't look very comfortable to sit on either.

Such a shame, they are beautiful horses in their natural state and they are obviously the most stoic and tolerant of breeds, poor souls :'(
