are there any eye problems that quickly occur in horses eyes, where the eye appears to be normal but the horse is unusually jumpy on the affected side?

thankyou.

My mare has a bit of green gunk appear in the corner of her eye - she's not sensitive to it but I can see there is a slight infection. We have new hay and I have omitted to put her fly mask on of late. I was recommended to by get some eye drops from Boots to get rid of it.

Of course, if it has not gone down over the next couple of days, I shall duly contact the vet.

Sol gets a runny eye every year- and duly has the drama of the eye drops/bathing it.
It cleared up last week (he gets it from the rape pollen, and the tree pollen) but he is unusually jumpy and grumpy.

you would need to chat to your vet who mite refer you to an equine opthomologist to have a closer look, could be something simple (eye irritation) i would never take any chances!!!

get vet out .my mare sometimes come in and her eye lid is all swallon and that was due to a bite and i cleaned it up with barrier eye and nose oitment and the next day it was fine!

My sisters horse somehow pierced his eye, but the offending object came straight out .... maybe put his head in hawthorne hedge in the field

Anyway she noticed a swelling, weepy eye, treated with opticlox as on examination vet could not see any ulceration ... it had healed on the surface within 12 hrs.

To cut a long story short ... over £6500 later and 3 weeks at Newmarket he had a deep abcess removed, his eye grafted and kept some, but not all of his sight, so never hesitate to get immediate veterinary treatment.
