Eye Vein

My horse has a vein that becomes very prominant after he exercises or when blood goes to his head (ie when he puts his head down to eat). Has anyone experienced this issue before? Norman is a 12 year old, off track TB racehorse. The vein doesn't seem to bother him and I was told by the rescue where I got him from that it is only a vericose vein but just wondered if anyone else has had this problem?
Thanks
Heather

What do you mean by eye vein? Do you mean a vein IN his eye or a vein OVER the eye? I would be more worried by a throbbing vein showing in his eye every time he lowers his head. This could be nothing but could indicate another problem going on inside the eye itself. I think this Forum is a good start for unearthing anyone whose horse has had a similar problem but if it's actually in the eye I'd ring my vets. Eyes are too precious to take for granted. If it's merely a prominent vein on his face somewhere I wouldn't worry at all.
