My dog has a growth on her eyelid. It's small but I've noticed it's grown and her eye is looking a bit red, so it looks like it'll have to come off. The vet said they'll take a wedge shape of the eyelid and it should be straightforward. I just wondered how long is likely for it to heal? Shes a very active dog and I can't see her being happy with a cone of shame for long. I just wondered if anyone else has dealt with this?

I suppose on the plus side is that it’s usually licking that causes issues and at least it’s a place that can’t physically get licked so with any luck faster than most operation sites 🤞

My lab had one removed at 14 and took a day to recover fully from the anesthetic, she was very lethargic. Her kidneys were just in the abnormal range so they gave her more support during the operation.
The wound caused no problems and healed very quickly, it was quite large but didn't bother her.

My old lady had a wart removed from the very edge of her eyelid when she was about 12. It was in an awkward spot and would have started to rub her actual eye if we had left it. I was worried about the surgery due to her age. But she recovered really quickly. Had to wear a cone for a short while and have daily eye drops for a week or so. It all went a lot better than I initially thought it would.
